Today’s earthquake was the most powerful earthquake recorded within a radius of 200 kilometers in the last 5 years. The epicenter of the earthquake is located at the place where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates collide. The collision of these plates causes high waves in the Himalayan mountains.

Massive Earthquake Shakes North India and Neighbors

Strong tremors of earthquake were felt all over North India on Tuesday morning at 6:35 am. Not only India, Nepal, Bangladesh, China were also affected by it. The intensity of the earthquake was so strong that people sleeping at home woke up in the middle of cold nights. In some areas, people were seen shivering with fear. Tremors of earthquake were felt five times within an hour. The epicenter of this earthquake was not in India. Epicentre in Tibet, is being told about 10 kilometers below the ground on the border of neighboring country Nepal and China. It is natural to have various questions in the mind that if an earthquake like this occurs, what to do and what not to do for immediate rescue. Let us tell you about it in detail.

Shocking Claim: Aravalli Crack Turns Active, More Earthquakes Ahead!

According to Dr. Rajendra Singh Rathore, a geographer, there is a fault line (crack) to the east of the Aravalli mountain range. This fault line passes through the eastern coast of Rajasthan and meets Dharamshala. It includes Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur areas of Rajasthan.

Experts say that the cracks in the Aravalli mountain have started to move. Now such earthquakes will keep coming in Jaipur and other adjoining areas. Jaipur falls in Zone-2 and Western Rajasthan falls in Zone-3. Normal earthquakes occur here.

Why do Earthquakes occur?

The surface of our earth is mainly made up of 7 large and many small tectonic plates. These plates keep floating continuously and sometimes collide with each other. Due to collision, sometimes the corners of the plates get bent and due to excessive pressure these plates start breaking. In such a situation, the energy coming out from below finds a way to come out and after this disturbance an earthquake occurs.

Earthquake on Richter scale

Richter ScaleEffect
0 to 1.9Detectable only by seismograph.
2 to 2.9Slight tremor.
3 to 3.9Feels like the vibration caused by a truck passing nearby.
4 to 4.9Windows may break. Wall-mounted frames may fall.
5 to 5.9Heavy objects, such as furniture, may move.
6 to 6.9Can damage the foundation of buildings. Upper floors may suffer damage.
7 to 7.9Buildings collapse. Ground may crack open.
8 to 8.9Buildings and bridges collapse entirely.
9 or moreComplete destruction. If near an ocean, may trigger destructive tsunamis.

Note: Each level on the Richter scale is 10 times more powerful than the previous one.

Earthquake 7.1 Rocks Delhi, Bihar, Bengal; Epicentre in Tibet
People came out of their homes after the earthquake in Nepal.

Nepal government confirmed

According to the Nepal government, it has been confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake felt in Nepal this morning was Ding Kanti in Tibet, on the Nepal-China border. According to the Geological Department of the Nepal government, the intensity of the earthquake in that area was measured at 7 on the Richter scale. Most parts of Nepal were shaken by the earthquake that occurred at 6:35 am. This has caused a major shock to the Tibet region as well as the eastern and central regions of Nepal.

The earthquake tremor was felt till Kathmandu. After the strong earthquake in the morning, the people of Kathmandu came out of their houses shouting. After a long time, a big earthquake tremor was felt in Kathmandu. No information has been received yet about where and how much damage was caused by the earthquake.

Don’t do this work even by mistake in case of earthquake?

1. If you live in a high-rise building, do not take the lift to go down. Stay in the house until the earthquake stops. Running away in a hurry can cause an accident.

2. In case of an earthquake, do not stand near the doors or windows of the house even by mistake. Especially stay away from glass windows and doors. There is always a danger of them breaking.

3. When the tremors of the earthquake stop, do not open the windows and doors of the house without delay. Sometimes these crack due to the tremors, which is not noticed.

4. People trapped in an earthquake should not operate any electrical appliances in the house. Do not keep switching the switchboard on and off.

467 years ago, 8.30 lakh people died in an earthquake in China

The most deadly earthquake occurred in China in 1556, in which 8.30 lakh people died. In terms of intensity, the most dangerous earthquake till date occurred in Chile on 22 May 1960. Its intensity on the Richter scale was 9.5. The tsunami that occurred due to this caused terrible devastation in many countries including Southern Chile, Hawaii Islands, Japan, Philippines, Eastern New Zealand, South-East Australia. 1655 people died in this, while 3000 people were injured.
