Porsche Macan EV: Porsche has revealed its second electric car, the all-new Macan EV, which will come with two/four wheel-drive variant options. Which will be 408hp Macan 4 and 639hp Macan Turbo. Porsche India has also started taking bookings for the Macan Turbo, which is priced at Rs 1.65 crore ex-showroom. Its delivery will be started by the second half of 2024. However, the company has not yet announced the price of Macan 4 variant for sale in India.

The new electric Macan is 103 mm longer, 15 mm wider and 2 mm shorter than the existing petrol model. It has been developed alongside the Audi Q6 e-tron, which, along with its Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, shares key parts such as the chassis, battery and power electronics with the new Porsche.

The exterior styling seems to stray away from the familiar look of the original Macan, while featuring Tyson design cues. Especially its rectangular headlights and wraparound LED rear light.

In terms of style and layout, the interior is similar to the current Cayenne. Apart from this, there are three digital displays present in it. The first is a standard 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, along with a separate optional 10.9-inch touchscreen for the passenger that allows the rider to stream video as well as adjust a number of controls. The long wheelbase allows for good leg room in both rows, while a claimed boot space of 540 litres. There is also an 84-litre ‘frunk’.

The electric Macan model uses dual permanent synchronous motors with separate, single-speed gearboxes on all axles. For the Macan 4, they generate 408hp and 650Nm combined to deliver a top speed of 220kph, with a 0-100kph time of 5.2 seconds. While the Macan Turbo offers 639hp and 1,130Nm of torque thanks to overboost, capable of 0-100kph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 260kph.

According to the company, the Macan’s 95kWh battery can be charged up to 270kW on an 800V DC system, capable of 10-80 percent top-up in 21 minutes. Whereas through braking and deceleration it can recover up to 240kW of electric energy. While the official WLTP range for Macan 4 is 613 km and for Macan Turbo is 591 km.
Both the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo have optional rear steering. For the first time in the Macan, this can be used with a maximum steering angle of up to 5-degrees, giving the new SUV a turning circle of 11.1 metres.
