The biggest reason behind Ashok Chavan’s distance from the Congress was said in the political circles that he had talked about removing Nana Patole from the party leadership and making himself the State Congress President. Received political legacy from father Shankarrao Chavan Â
Born on 28 October 1958, Ashok Chavan inherited his political legacy from his father Shankarrao Chavan. He has also been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Ashok Chavan was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 8 December 2008 to 9 November 2010. He entered politics as the General Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.

Talking about Ashok Chavan’s political journey, he was also the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Industry, Mines and Protocol in the Vilasrao Deshmukh government. He became MLA from Bhokar seat of Nanded district in 2019. Was MP twice and MLA four times.
He also served as the President of Maharashtra Congress from 2015 to 2019. Elected as Lok Sabha MP for the first time in 1987. Was elected MP for the second time in 2014. Apart from this, he was also a member of the Legislative Council once.
Was close to Rahul Gandhi
The former CM of Maharashtra was considered close to Rahul Gandhi. When Congress lost the 2019 , he had said that Congress’s defeat is a collective responsibility.
