Electric Buses: After the country’s capital Delhi, now importance is being given to operation of electric buses in Rajasthan also. In fact, approval has been given to run electric buses in seven big cities including the capital Jaipur of Rajasthan. These seven cities include Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Udaipur. 500 electric buses will be made available in Rajasthan, which will provide pollution-free transportation facility to the common people. 

Only last month, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that electric buses will be run by laying electric cables on the Delhi Mumbai Express National Highway, due to which the distance from Delhi to Jaipur will be covered in two hours. Also, its fare will be 30 percent less than diesel bus. Along with this, he had said that this work will be completed by November 2024 and after that the journey from Delhi to Jaipur will be completed in two hours, I assure you this.  

How many electric buses will operate in Rajasthan?

These buses will be operated and maintained by the Autonomous Government Department through Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL). Out of 500 electric buses, 300 e-buses will be operated in Jaipur, 70 in Jodhpur, 50 in Kota, 35 in Udaipur, 30 in Ajmer and 15 in Bikaner-Bharatpur. Running of these electric buses will not only reduce the level of environmental pollution but will also reduce the consumption of petrol and diesel. 

Emphasis on electric buses in Delhi too

This time in the Delhi budget, Rs 510 crore has been allocated for new EV buses. With 1650 electric buses, Delhi is the world’s third largest city with electric vehicles. By the year 2025, Delhi will have a fleet of ten thousand electric buses.

The trend of electric buses is gradually increasing. The reason behind this is the features of these buses. Running electric buses not only provides relief from pollution but also reduces the consumption of petrol and diesel. Diesel vehicles emit harmful smoke and petrol vehicles emit carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, which increases air pollution. This is the reason why gradually more importance is being given to the operation of electric buses.
