Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif : At present, the economic condition of neighboring country Pakistan is very fragile. In view of the deteriorating situation of the country, the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a big decision. Shehbaz and his cabinet members have unanimously decided not to take salary and related benefits in view of the economic condition of the country.
This big decision was taken by Shahbaz Sharif and his cabinet last Wednesday (20 March 2024). A press release has also been issued by the Prime Minister’s Office related to this. According to the release, this decision has been taken during the cabinet meeting under the government’s austerity policies with the aim of curbing unnecessary expenses.
The new Cabinet has already introduced measures to restrict government-funded foreign trips. It has been suggested that federal ministers, MPs and government officials are not allowed to go on foreign trips using government funds without prior approval.
Before Shahbaz Sharif and his cabinet, last week Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi had also decided not to take salary. Both the leaders had taken this decision in view of the current situation of the country. 68-year-old Asif Ali Zardari has recently taken oath as the 14th President.
Let us tell you that former President of Pakistan Arif Alvi used to get around Rs 8,46,550 as salary per month. This amount was fixed by the Parliament in 2018. However, the new President of Pakistan has decided not to take salary in view of the increasing burden on revenue.
