Arunachal Pradesh: BJP got 5 more seats than in 2019

Arunachal BJP won 46 out of 60 seats. The party had already won 10 seats unopposed. Therefore, elections were held on only 50 seats. BJP has an alliance with National People’s Party (NPP) in the state. NPP got 5 seats. In this sense, NDA has 51 seats in Arunachal.

In Arunachal, the BJP had contested all 60 seats, while the Congress had fielded candidates on only 19 seats.

Talking about rallies and road shows, PM Narendra Modi did a road show in Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) on March 9. Rahul-Priyanka Gandhi did not hold a rally here.

Sikkim: SKM won 31 out of 32 seats

The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) in Sikkim wiped out the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF). The SDF, which was in power for 25 years (1994-2019), got just one seat this time. Former SDF Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling contested from two seats and lost both. Congress-BJP did not get a single seat.

In Sikkim, SKM and SDF had fielded 32 candidates each, while BJP had fielded 31 candidates. Congress had contested on 12 seats. Citizen Action Party-Sikkim had fielded candidates on 30 seats.

Talking about election rallies and road shows, PM Modi and Rahul-Priyanka did not hold any rally or road show here. On March 7, Modi virtually inaugurated development works worth Rs 6400 crore in Sikkim from Srinagar.

After the 2019 general elections, SKM had an alliance with BJP, but this time before the elections, BJP broke the alliance by announcing to contest the elections alone in Sikkim.

3 reasons why SKM won in Sikkim

  1. Before these elections, government jobs were given to the youth in Sikkim and the Chief Minister’s schemes also had a big impact in the state.
  2. There is PM Awas Yojana in the country, but in Sikkim too, houses were given to the people under the Chief Minister Awas Yojana, which sent a positive message to the public.
  3. In the elections, SDF had accused the ruling SKM of corruption. When floods occurred just before the elections, the incompleteness of the schemes built during SDF’s rule and the allegations of corruption were exposed. This had a negative impact on SDF and the public expressed trust in SKM.

Expert told the reason for BJP’s victory in Arunachal Pradesh

Professor Nani Bath of Arunachal University says, ‘Nobody in Arunachal wants to be in the opposition. BJP is in power, and as long as BJP is in power at the centre, BJP will be in power in the state as well. People did not vote for Congress because Congress is in the opposition. People believe that there is no benefit in voting for a candidate who is in the opposition.’

‘People may not like the government or the people in the government may not work, but the people in the opposition have either joined the BJP or do not want to remain in the opposition. That is why the BJP won this election.’

PM congratulates the people and workers of Arunachal

PM Modi said- Thank you Arunachal Pradesh. The people of a wonderful state gave a mandate in the name of development. Our party will continue to work for the progress of the state. Modi said that I thank the workers of Arunachal BJP for their hard work. This shows how people are connected throughout the state.

Thank you Arunachal Pradesh! The people of this wonderful state have given an unequivocal mandate to politics of development. My gratitude to them for reposing their faith in @BJP4Arunachal yet again. Our Party will keep working with even greater vigour for the state’s growth.

— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) June 2, 2024

Modi congratulated the Chief Minister of Sikkim and BJP workers

PM Narendra Modi congratulated Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and CM PS Tamang Golay for the victory. Modi said that we will work together with the Sikkim government for the development of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that I thank all those people who voted for BJP. I also thank the workers. Our party will continue to work for the development of Sikkim.

I thank all those who voted for @BJP4Sikkim in the Assembly Elections. I also appreciate the efforts put in by our Karyakartas. Our Party will always be at the forefront of working towards Sikkim’s development and fulfilling people’s aspirations.

Pawan Chamling holds the record of being the longest serving CM

Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) was in power for 5 consecutive times from 1994 to 2019. Party chief Pawan Chamling remained in the CM post for 24 years and 166 days continuously.

He is the longest-serving chief minister in the country. Sikkim is the only state that has handed power to regional parties in all assembly elections since 1979.
