After forming the government at the center, the Bharatiya Janata Party has started the process of forming the government in Odisha as well. BJP has chosen Mohan Manjhi as the new Chief Minister in Odisha. In Odisha too, BJP has implemented the formula of one CM and two Deputy CMs. Odisha will have two Deputy CMs, one of whom is a woman. Parvati Parida and KV Singh Deo will be the Deputy CMs of the state.

In the recently held assembly elections in Odisha, BJP has ousted Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal from power by achieving the magic figure of majority. Naveen Patnaik was the Chief Minister of the state continuously from 2000 to 2024. He remained in this post for 24 years and 98 days. After getting success in the recent elections, BJP has now chosen Mohan Majhi as the Chief Minister. With this, the state has got a new Chief Minister after almost two and a half decades.

Mohan Majhi comes from the tribal community and by making him the Chief Minister, BJP has taken a step towards strengthening its hold in this community. Majhi won the assembly elections from Keonjhar seat of Odisha and this seat is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe category. He defeated Nina Majhi of Biju Janata Dal from this seat by 11 thousand 577 votes. 52-year-old Majhi has won the assembly elections four times.

Parvati Parida and KV Singh Deo will become deputy CM

The state’s new deputy CM Parvati Parida has won the assembly elections from Nimapara. She defeated BJD’s Dilip Kumar Nayak by 4588 votes. Kanak Vardhan Singh Dev, who is going to become the second deputy CM of Odisha, is an MLA from Patnagarh and in a close contest, he defeated BJD’s Saroj Kumar Mehar by 1357 votes.

Know which party has how many seats in the assembly

Recently, Lok Sabha as well as Assembly elections were held in Odisha. In this state with 147 assembly seats, BJP has crossed the magic figure of majority and won 78 seats. On the other hand, Biju Janata Dal, which was in power for two and a half decades, was reduced to just 51 seats. Congress got 14 seats and Communist Party of India-Marxist got one seat. This time in Odisha, three independent candidates also won the elections.

Who is Mohan Majhi

Four-time MLA Mohan Majhi hails from the tribal community and was elected from Keonjhar seat in the recently concluded assembly elections. He defeated BJD’s Meena Majhi by a margin of 11,577 votes. A strong tribal face, Majhi is known for his public service and organisational skills.

What message did BJP give by making Mohan Charan Majhi the Chief Minister, know where it will have an impact

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced the name of the new Chief Minister of Odisha. Mohan Charan Majhi will be the new Chief Minister of the state. Along with this, two Deputy Chief Ministers will also be appointed in Odisha. For this, the names of Kanakvardhan Singh Dev and Parvati Parida have been chosen. Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav were present as observers in the meeting organized to elect the new Chief Minister of Odisha. BJP has selected a tribal for the Chief Minister of this tribal-dominated state. The tribal population in Odisha’s population of more than four crore is about one crore.

Tribal politics of BJP

After Chhattisgarh, Odisha is the second state where BJP has chosen a tribal as the Chief Minister. Actually, BJP is eyeing the tribal votes of the country. For this purpose, BJP had chosen the name of Odisha’s tribal leader Draupadi Murmu for the post of President. To give a message to the tribals, BJP had made tribal Vishnudeva Sai the Chief Minister in Odisha’s neighboring state Chhattisgarh. The contribution of the tribal society was also big in making Sai the Chief Minister. BJP had won 16 out of 20 seats reserved for tribals.

BJP’s strategy for Odisha

After forming the government in Chhattisgarh, BJP wanted to form its government in Odisha at any cost, where it was the third largest party. The tribal population is more than 55 percent in 15 assembly seats of Odisha, while the tribal population is around 30 percent in about 35 seats. BJP made a special strategy for these seats. Making a tribal the President and a tribal the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh gave BJP a big success in Odisha. 24 seats are reserved for tribals in Odisha. BJP has won most of these seats.

Jharkhand’s failed experiment

Earlier, BJP had made non-tribal Raghuvar Das the Chief Minister of tribal-dominated Jharkhand. But BJP did not get any benefit from him. BJP lost the 2019 assembly elections. Raghuvar Das himself lost the election. BJP lost 26 out of 28 seats reserved for tribals in Jharkhand. The same happened in Chhattisgarh. Due to losing tribal seats, the Chhattisgarh government slipped out of its hands. Taking a lesson from this, BJP made a tribal the Chief Minister in Chhattisgarh and handed over the command of Jharkhand BJP to a tribal Babulal Marandi. But it will also be a coincidence that Raghuvar Das will administer the oath to Mohan Charan Majhi.

BJP’s performance in Odisha

In the recently held Odisha Assembly elections, BJP has won with majority for the first time. There are a total of 147 seats in the Odisha Assembly. BJP has won 78 of these seats. Naveen Patnaik’s BJD has got 51 seats, Congress 14, CPIM one and others have got three seats.
