Supreme Court again refuses to stay NEET UG counselling

The Supreme Court on Thursday again refused to stay the NEET UG counselling. The court has said that after the final hearing, if the exam is cancelled then the counselling will also be cancelled.

Earlier on June 11, the Supreme Court had rejected this appeal. Today, a new petition demanding cancellation of the examination was also heard in the Supreme Court. This petition was filed by 49 students and Student Federation of India (SFI). The next hearing on this will be held on July 8.

The petitioners have demanded a background check and forensic investigation of the students who scored more than 620 in the exam. At the same time, a CBI inquiry has also been demanded into the allegation of paper leak.

Along with this, the Supreme Court has clubbed the petitions filed in the NEET UG case in Rajasthan, Calcutta and Bombay High Courts. Now these will be heard in the Supreme Court on July 8. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had made this demand. The vacation bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice SVN Bhatti is hearing this case in the Supreme Court.

The demand for counselling was rejected 9 days ago too.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay the NEET counselling. The Supreme Court bench issued a notice to the exam conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA), saying that the credibility of NEET UG has been affected. We want an answer to this.

This petition was filed by student Shivangi Mishra and 9 other students on June 1 before the declaration of the result. In this, a complaint was made about the irregularities caused due to distribution of wrong question papers at the exam centers of Bihar and Rajasthan and a demand was made to cancel the exam and conduct an SIT investigation.

NEET UG 2024 Shake-Up: Education Minister Pradhan Promises No Compromise, Announces High-Level NTA Reform Committee!
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a press conference on Thursday on the NEET exam controversy.

Dharmendra Pradhan said, ‘In the case of NEET, we also have to take care of the interests of lakhs of brilliant students who have passed the exam. Patna Police deserves praise.

They conducted a proper investigation of an isolated incident. Talks are going on between the officials of the Government of India and Bihar Police.

In the case of UGC NET exam, the cyber crime tracking agency informed that the question has appeared on the dark net. It was matched with the original question of NTA. They were the same. We immediately decided that it should be investigated immediately. High level investigation is necessary to investigate the forward of social media platform Telegram. In such a situation, we believed that there was some irregularity in the exam.
