Monsoon 2024: Monsoon has covered half of India. On Monday, rains were witnessed in parts of Maharashtra, Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, including southern and northeastern states.

On Monday, a cloud burst at Gambharpul in Himachal’s Solan district at around 2:30 pm. Due to this, there was heavy rain for about 7-8 minutes. Due to the rain, a lot of debris fell on Gambharpul and the highway connecting Kunihar to Nalagarh was closed. 2 vehicles were also damaged in the flood.

Here, the monsoon has reached 32 districts in Madhya Pradesh within three days. According to meteorologists, it will cover the entire state in the next 5 days. The monsoon has reached the border of Rajasthan. By 26-27 June, the monsoon may enter Rajasthan via Jhalawar, Banswara.

On Monday evening, it rained in Alwar, Chittorgarh, Kota, Pali, Banswara and Moulasar of Kuchaman-Didwana in Rajasthan. A young man died due to lightning in Chittorgarh, while 5 people of the same family got burnt.

Patna, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Rohtas and Buxar in Bihar received rain yesterday. Three people died due to lightning in Nawanagar of Buxar, while one person also died due to lightning in Nokha of Rohtas.

On Monday, the temperature of 27 places in seven states of the country – Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan was more than 40 degrees. Jaisalmer in Rajasthan was the hottest place in the country with a temperature of 45 degrees.

Where did the monsoon reach?

The southwest monsoon reached Nicobar on 19 May. This time the monsoon reached Kerala two days earlier, i.e. on 30 May, and covered many states. Then the monsoon stopped from 12 to 18 June (6 days).

By June 12, the monsoon had fully covered Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It had also reached most parts of South Maharashtra, parts of South Chhattisgarh, South Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and all the northwestern states.

By June 18, the monsoon had reached Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur in Maharashtra, Bijapur, Sukma in Chhattisgarh, Malkangiri in Odisha and Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has estimated that the monsoon in June will be below normal i.e. 92% of the long period average (LPA).

Monsoon will cover Delhi-Punjab by July 3

In 3-4 days, the monsoon will cover entire Madhya Pradesh, entire Bihar, entire Jharkhand, entire West Bengal and some parts of Uttar Pradesh. By June 27, the monsoon can enter Delhi, Punjab and Haryana and will move forward after completely covering these states by July 3.

The monsoon entered Gujarat on June 11. 11 days later, on June 23, the monsoon advanced into Gujarat. According to the Meteorological Department, by June 27, the monsoon will cover more than half of Gujarat.

40 thousand cases of heatstroke in the country this season

According to the Health Ministry, more than 41 thousand cases of heatstroke were recorded from March 1 to June 18. At the same time, 114 people have died due to heatwave.

This time the number of heatwave days was double the average. The weather department has predicted above normal temperatures this month as well.

The department has said that due to global warming, the effect of intense heat is still being seen in the country.

How will the weather be in the future

There is a heat wave alert in some places of Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and western Rajasthan on Monday. Heat wave will continue in western Rajasthan till June 27. There will be relief from it after that.

Winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 kmph in West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next 3 days. Light to moderate rain may also occur.

Cyclonic circulation is also present in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. In Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Andaman-Nicobar, winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 km per hour and light to moderate rain will occur in the next 4 days.

There will be rain in Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Uttarakhand. The wind speed here will be more than 30-40 km per hour. Heatwave will continue in the areas of Jammu.

Madhya Pradesh:

Monsoon has reached 32 districts in Madhya Pradesh within 3 days. According to meteorologists, it will cover the entire state in the next 5 days. It will reach Gwalior-Chambal division last. This time it is expected to rain up to 106% of normal. A strong system will be active on 25-26 June. 

Rajasthan:

With the advancement of monsoon in the country, its effect has started increasing in Rajasthan. Not only has the humidity increased in north-eastern and south-eastern Rajasthan, but pre-monsoon activities have also increased. Meteorological Center Jaipur has issued a warning of rain in 15 districts today (Monday). Meanwhile, there will be heavy rain in some districts on 26 and 27 June. 

Bihar: 

The mood of the weather has changed again in Bihar. After two-three days of relief, the Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert in many districts. Hot days and humid heat are expected in the southern districts of the state including Patna. Today there is a heat wave warning in four districts including Rohtas and Aurangabad. 

Haryana:

After some relief from the recent rains in Haryana, the heat has increased again. Due to 2 days of sunshine, the maximum temperature of the state increased by 5 degrees. Bhiwani district was the hottest, the maximum temperature here was recorded at 43.8 degrees. Weather experts say that monsoon will enter Haryana before June 30. 

Punjab:

State’s temperature increased by 1.5 degrees, relief expected from June 26, possibility of rain on June 28, The temperature of Punjab is continuously rising. For the second consecutive day, the temperature has once again increased by an average of 1.5 degrees. Due to which the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert in 13 districts today. On Sunday evening, the maximum temperature in Faridkot was recorded at 43.7 degrees.

Himachal Pradesh:

This time, monsoon may arrive in Himachal with a delay of 3 days, by 27th June. Usually, monsoon enters the state between 22nd and 25th June. But this time, even the pre-monsoon showers have not rained yet. Its partial effect has been seen only in the eastern regions. 

Chhattisgarh:

The southwest monsoon has become active in entire Chhattisgarh with the arrival of Korea, Surajpur and Balrampur. With this, the situation of good rain has started developing in the entire state. Since June 1, the state has received 74.4 mm rainfall which is 36 percent less than the average. 115 mm of rain was expected.

Uttar Pradesh:

There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain in 45 districts including UP’s capital Lucknow. The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that on Monday, there may be heavy rain in 10 districts including Sonbhadra, Varanasi, Mau. East winds will blow at a speed of 30 kilometers. Lightning may also strike.
