Earlier, India restricted Zimbabwe to 152 runs for 7 wickets with the brilliant performance of makeshift bowlers Shivam Dubey and Abhishek Sharma. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza played an innings of 46 runs in 28 balls. But India’s fifth bowler Abhishek (20/1) and sixth substitute Dubey (11/1) kept Zimbabwe under pressure with a good bowling effort. They controlled the middle overs by dismissing the dangerous opening pair of Wesley Madhevere (25 runs in 24 balls) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (32 runs in 31 balls). Captain Raza, however, took Zimbabwe to a score of more than 150 runs by hitting three sixes and two fours in his innings. All Indian bowlers got wickets except leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi.

The team could not take advantage of the good start . Zimbabwe’s batsmen had a great start. They scored 44 runs without losing a wicket in the first 6 overs.
