Stree 2 Movie Review: Do you want to watch a Desi film like Avengers or do you want a good dose of horror-comedy? The answer to both the questions is to watch Stree 2. If you have seen the first part of the film (Stree), then obviously you must have been waiting for this film. This film also lives up to those expectations. Story
The story of the film starts from where the old film ended. The villagers of Chanderi had got rid of the ‘woman’, but the villagers did not know that a bigger problem was going to come before them. This time, taking advantage of the absence of the woman, a vampire named Sarkata has come to wreak havoc in the village.
Like last time, this time too the responsibility of stopping this destruction has fallen on Biki’s (Rajkumar Rao) shoulders. In which he is helped by Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi). Shraddha Kapoor’s character also enters to become his strength. To know what happens in this great war between humans and vampires-witches-ghosts, you should watch the film.
How is the film?
You don’t even realise when the interval comes in a film of about two and a half hours. The film moves forward at a rapid pace. And this is the most positive part of any film that while watching it you don’t realise when the time has passed. Otherwise if the film seems long anywhere then it starts becoming boring. There is no such shortcoming in the film.
My personal experience after the interval was such that after some time I started fearing that the film would end in a short while. This is because after so many days if you are getting to see something good in the theatre, then you would want to enjoy it as much as possible.
Acting
If we say that Rajkumar Rao has done a great job, then it will seem incomplete. If we say that Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee have also done excellent acting, then this will also not be justified. One of the elements necessary to make any film excellent is the acting element and in this film it is so amazing that you cannot praise any one of them.
If we say that these four have done nothing but ‘amazing’ together, then this statement completely fits. Whenever these four are together in any scene or any one of them appears solo, they are not acting. In fact, they are living the acting. Such amazing comic timing of several actors together in a single film is rarely seen.
Shraddha Kapoor looks beautiful and amazing like in the first part. Apart from this, the other actors who appeared in small roles, be it Sunita Rajwar who played the role of Banarakas’ wife in Panchayat or Atul Srivastava who played the role of Rajkumar Rao’s father, all have shown what it means to be a theatre actor.
Direction
The direction is in the hands of Amar Kaushik. He has been blessed with the ability to create something great in this kind of horror comedy. He has once again created something great. Before this, he has made amazing films like ‘Bhediya’ and ‘Stree’, which have given a new dimension to horror comedy in India.
Throughout the film, he has taken care that the audience should not get upset. The story has been presented in such a way that from the scary scenes to the scenes that make you cry, the audience gets some or the other chance to laugh everywhere.
Highlights of ‘Stree 2’
The most special thing about the film is that it makes you laugh for the entire two and a half hours. That is, the makers fulfilled whatever was promised.
– This film has become a film in the category of ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur 2’. What I mean to say is that when the sequel of the film is as strong and great as the first part of the film. That means here not only the name of the franchise has been used to make the film a success, but its respect has also been maintained.
– We had written in the beginning that if you want to enjoy a desi film like Hollywood’s Avengers, then watch this film. Actually, just like the Avengers series, this film introduces different heroes of Maddock Films’ horror universe in the film and proves successful in this attempt.
– It is so successful that everyone has got their share of screen presence. The same applies to the other 4 characters of the film. It would be completely wrong to say that this film belongs only to Rajkumar Rao. Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti and Abhishek Banerjee have equally good work and screen presence in the film.
– There are many surprising elements in the film, like the entry of Bhediya (Varun Dhawan). Apart from this, the most surprising thing in the film is the entry of Akshay Kumar.
– This film has brought a big gift for Akshay Kumar’s fans, because it has also been indicated in the film that he is going to be an important part of this universe in the coming days.
– Last but not the least, the most beautiful thing is that there is not just one post-credit scene in the film, but three post-credit scenes. And each scene has its own story, where the director has very skillfully revealed the ‘hidden revelations’ about the rest of the characters in the coming days. A scene related to ‘Munjya’ has also been inserted in the film, but to understand it you will have to watch the post-credit scenes.
– The reason why we are giving the film only 4 stars is that some more work could have been done in the film. For example, the VFX and special effects scenes of the film could have been made more lively. Sarkata Bhoot looks animated at many places. Bhediya also seems to be a victim of this shortcoming at many places.
