Amit Shah Grills Rahul Gandhi: After the announcement of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir (Jammu-Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024), political parties are busy increasing their strength. Congress and National Conference have decided to contest the elections together. This was announced after the meeting of Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at the residence of National Conference chief and former CM Farooq Abdullah. Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi regarding this alliance. Amit Shah has also asked 10 questions to Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party.

Home Minister Amit Shah posted on the social media platform X, “The Congress Party, which has repeatedly played with the unity and security of the country in its greed for power, has once again exposed its intentions before the country by forming an alliance with the Abdullah family’s ‘National Conference’ in the Jammu and Kashmir elections.”

1) Does Congress support National Conference’s promise of a separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir again?

4) Do the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi once again support cross-border terrorism and nurturing its ecosystem by the National Conference’s decision to resume ‘LoC trade’ with Pakistan?

5) Does Congress support bringing back the era of terrorism, terror and shutdown by re-employing the family members of those involved in terrorism and stone-pelting incidents in government jobs?

6) This alliance has brought forth the anti-reservation face of the Congress party. Is the Congress supporting JKNC’s promise to end the reservation of Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwals and Paharis and do injustice to them again?

7) Does Congress want ‘Shankaracharya Mountain’ to be known as ‘Takht-e-Suliman’ and ‘Hari Mountain’ to be known as ‘Koh-e-Maran’?

8) Does Congress support throwing the economy of Jammu and Kashmir into the fire of corruption once again and handing it over to a handful of Pakistan-backed families?

9) Does Congress Party support JKNC’s politics of discrimination between Jammu and Valley?

10) Do Congress and Rahul Gandhi support JKNC’s divisive thinking and policies of giving autonomy to Kashmir?

What did Farooq Abdullah and Rahul Gandhi say on the alliance?

Regarding the alliance with Congress, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah said, “Talks regarding 90 seats have been finalized. We will fight together. The seat sharing formula will be decided later. Everything will be revealed before the first phase of voting.”

Farooq Abdullah said, “Statehood is very important for all of us. This has been promised to us. This state has seen bad days. We hope that full statehood will be restored soon. For this, we are with the INDIA Alliance.”

My blood relation – Rahul Gandhi

Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi told party workers in Srinagar, “It is most important to represent Jammu and Kashmir and get it back the status of a state. I have a blood relation with this place. In such a situation, it is expected that people will definitely support us in the elections.”

When will elections be held in Jammu and Kashmir?

The Election Commission announced the dates for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana on August 16. Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. This will be the first assembly election after the abrogation of Article 370. Voting for the 90 assembly seats here will be held in 3 phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. While voting for the 90 seats of Haryana will be held on October 1. The results of both states will come on October 4.

When was Article 370 removed from Jammu and Kashmir?

The central government removed Article 370 on 5 August 2019. Since then LG Manoj Sinha is the administrator here. The Supreme Court had ordered elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir by 30 September 2024. After the elections, the tenure of the new government will be 5 years instead of 6 years. 

Who got how many seats in the 2014 assembly elections?

The last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held in 2014. There were 87 seats then. The majority figure was 44. Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP won 28 seats in the elections. Its vote share was 22.67%. BJP won 25 seats. The vote share was 22.98%. National Conference got 15 seats. Congress got 12 seats. People’s Conference got 2 seats. CPI(M) and People’s Democratic Front won 1 seat each. While 3 seats went to independents.
