Ind vs Ban 1st Test: India has reached a strong position on the first day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh. The team scored 339 runs after losing 6 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin remained unbeaten after scoring 102 runs and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten after scoring 86 runs. Hasan Mahmud from Bangladesh took 4 wickets.

On the first day, Ashwin and Jadeja got a standing ovation after their 195-run partnership. An argument was seen between Litton Das and Rishabh Pant. Ravindra Jadeja did the sword celebration by waving his bat in the air like a sword after completing his fifty.

Ashwin’s century and Jadeja’s fifty

Ravichandran Ashwin returned unbeaten after scoring 102 runs. He completed his century by taking a single on the third ball of the 74th over. This is the sixth century of his Test career. Jadeja returned unbeaten after scoring 86 runs. This is Jadeja’s 21st Test fifty. He completed his half-century by taking a run on the first ball of Hasan Mahmud in the 68th over.

Century partnership of Ashwin-Jadeja

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have made an unbeaten century partnership for the 7th wicket. Jadeja made a century partnership by taking a single off Nahid Rana’s ball in the 62nd over. Team India lost the sixth wicket at 144 runs.

1. Ashwin’s fourth century below number 8

Ravichandran Ashwin scored a century while batting at number 8 position. This is the sixth century of his career, but it was his fourth century while batting at number 8 or below. He is at the top in this record from India. While he has reached the second position in the world. New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori is at the top by scoring 5 Test centuries.

2. Scored second century in Chennai

Ashwin reached the top among players who have scored 2 centuries and taken 5 wickets more than 2 times at a single venue in Tests. Ashwin has the record of scoring 2 centuries and taking 5 wickets 4 times in Chennai. So far only 5 players in Test cricket have been able to score 2 centuries and take 5 plus wickets 2 times at a single venue.

After Ashwin, England’s Ian Botham has scored two centuries and taken 5-wicket hauls thrice at Headingley. West Indies’ Gary Sobers has achieved the feat of scoring two centuries and taking 5-wicket hauls twice at Headingley, India’s Kapil Dev in Chennai and New Zealand’s Chris Cairns in Auckland.

3. Biggest partnership for the 7th wicket against Bangladesh

Ashwin and Jadeja have made an unbeaten partnership of 195 runs for the 7th wicket. This is the biggest partnership for the 7th wicket or below against Bangladesh from India. Before these two, Zaheer Khan and Sachin Tendulkar had added 133 runs for the 10th wicket in 2004 at Dhaka ground.

1. Zakir Hasan collided with the stumps

Bangladesh’s Zakir Hasan collided with the stumps while trying to run out India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi tried to take a single by pushing the ball towards point, but Zakir quickly came towards the ball and tried to throw it at the stumps.

Yashasvi returned to the striker’s end, Zakir tried to throw, but the ball did not hit the stumps. While diving for a direct hit, Zakir could not control himself and collided with the stumps. However, he did not get hurt much.

2. Argument between Litton and Pant

During the 17th over, India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was seen arguing with Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper Litton Das. While batting, Pant was seen explaining something to Litton. Pant then batted for 8 more overs and was out after scoring 39 runs.

3. Hasan Mahmud fell on the ground, Jadeja survived in DRS

Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud fell on the ground after colliding with Jadeja while appealing for LBW. The fourth ball of the 50th over hit Jadeja’s pad. Mahmud collided with Jadeja while appealing. The umpire gave Jadeja out LBW on his appeal.

Jadeja took a review, the replay showed that the ball had hit Jadeja’s bat. Therefore the umpire had to reverse his decision. Jadeja was batting on 13 runs during this time, he batted till the end of the day’s play and remained not out after scoring 86 runs.

4. Jadeja’s sword celebration

Ravindra Jadeja completed his fifty on 73 balls by taking a single off Hasan Mahmud’s ball. After this, he waved his bat like a sword and did a sword celebration. Jadeja often does a sword celebration like this on completing a fifty or century.

5. Ashwin-Jadeja got a standing ovation

India had lost 6 wickets at a score of 144 runs at one point. Here Ashwin and Jadeja took charge of the team, both batted fast and took the score beyond 300 runs. By the end of the day’s play, Ashwin remained not out on 102 and Jadeja on 86.

Both of them have made a partnership of 195 runs. While returning to the pavilion, both of them got a standing ovation from the Indian team. Team India’s coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli along with the rest of the players also stood up and applauded both of them.
