Spain Floods: Spain is currently facing the problem of floods. So far more than 200 people have lost their lives in this natural disaster. The city most affected by the floods is Valencia.

According to CNA report, at least 205 people have lost their lives in this storm. Most of the deaths have occurred in the city of Valencia. In view of the danger, the authorities have issued a warning. Officials have said that roads have been damaged in some areas, due to which emergency services are not able to reach.
Meteorological department issued red alert
Spain’s Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in the coastal areas located in the south-western part of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, 140 mm of rain may fall in Huelva for 12 consecutive hours. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued for rain in other areas. Orange alert has been issued for rain and yellow alert for storms in the areas of Rasena, Andevalo and Condado.
President Pedro Sanchez expressed grief
Spanish President Pedro Sanchez wrote on social media, “The whole of Spain can feel the pain of those who are trying to find their relatives in this flood. We are trying our best to help you. We are using all the necessary resources so that we can recover from this as soon as possible. Helicopters are being used to evacuate people from homes and cars. 1,100 army personnel have been deployed in the flood-ravaged areas.”

Emergency Response United 1000 members deployed
Around 1,000 members of the Spanish military’s Emergency Response Unit have been deployed to the affected areas, assisting with rescue and clean-up efforts. However, many areas are still without power and have disrupted phone networks.
Meteorologists have blamed the torrential rain on a ‘pimple’, which they believe occurs when a cold air system collides with the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. While its effects are often localised, similar events wreaked havoc in 1966 and 1957, when the Turia river overflowed and devastated the city of Valencia.
