Diwali Celebration Ends in Horror; Ramganga Weeps Amid Bodies and Heartbreaking Cries
The Ramganga river valley flowing below Marchula in Almora echoed with screams on Monday morning. Women, children, elderly. There were screams everywhere. The joy of Diwali turned into mourning just two days later. A bus from Pauri carrying 42 unfortunate passengers who were returning to the metropolis after celebrating the festival fell into a deep gorge in Marchula. This accident was so horrific that anyone who saw it was stunned. The bus jumped off the road, hit a rock and then rolled down to the Ramganga river. The bus was shattered after hitting the rock. Many passengers were thrown out of the bus and fell into the bushes here and there. Some fell down with the bus into the river. 22 people died on the spot in the accident. Some injured also died in the hospital. So far 36 people have died in this accident.

The passengers kept writhing in pain for a long time. After some time, local people came to help. After this, rescue teams also reached to help. The bodies were taken out from the river. The rescue workers were also shocked to see the mutilated bodies of children and women. Due to hitting the rock, the passengers were scattered here and there in the bushes. In such a situation, the task of finding the passengers was becoming even more difficult. The incident happened around 8:30 in the morning. The bus fell into the ditch in Kupi village of Almora. When this bus fell into the ditch, there were 45 to 50 passengers in it, whereas this is a 42 seater bus. The bus was going from Nainidanda of Pauri to Ramnagar.

It is being told that there were more people in the bus than its capacity. Some people were also standing in the bus. There were more than 50 people in the 42 seater bus. In such a situation, it is feared that overloading might have been the reason for the bus falling into the ditch. Many times the maintenance of buses is not done properly in the mountains, this can also be the reason for the accident. However, no official statement has come out yet regarding the cause of the accident. SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue work.
