Assembly Election Results 2024: NDA Sweeps Maharashtra, JMM repeat in Jharkhand | Amit Shah congratulates Fadnavis, Shinde and Ajit Pawar

Assembly Election Results 2024: Counting of votes in Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections is going on since 8 am on Saturday (23 November). In Maharashtra, voting was held for all 288 seats in one phase. Whereas in Jharkhand, which has 81 seats, voting was held in two phases. The results of both the states are coming simultaneously.

Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar over the phone and congratulated them on the victory.

What is the latest situation in Jharkhand-Maharashtra?

In the trends received so far in Maharashtra, BJP alliance is leading on 219 seats. Congress is leading on 56 seats. Others are leading on 13 seats. 
On the other hand, JMM alliance is leading on 50 seats in Jharkhand. BJP alliance is leading on 29 seats.  

Who will become the CM of Maharashtra? Fadnavis gave this answer

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said, none of us had expected this. This is beyond our expectations. After one and a half hours, all three parties will sit together and decide what the future strategy will be.

He said that we will hold a press conference. We will go to the party office. After this I will go to Nagpur. On the name of the next CM of Maharashtra, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the three parties will decide the CM together.

What are the Election Commission figures saying

Counting of votes for Maharashtra Elections 2024 is underway. According to the official trends of the Election Commission, Mahayuti is leading in 215 out of 288 seats in the state. Maharashtra Deputy CM and BJP candidate from Nagpur South-West Devendra Fadnavis is leading in his constituency by a margin of 12,329 votes. 

 Mahayuti’s legislative party meeting tomorrow 

In the trends in Maharashtra, the BJP alliance has got a huge lead. Amidst all this, the Mahayuti has called a meeting of the legislative party tomorrow. The leader of the BJP legislative party will be elected on November 25. On the 26th, the Mahayuti will stake claim to form the government.

What did Congress say about lagging behind in Maharashtra?

Congress leader Supriya Shrinet said, there should be a detailed discussion on EVMs, but today is not that day. The results have not come in our favour. We have learnt a lesson. Mahayuti got more time to prepare. The way the date of elections was extended. We had a good campaign in Maharashtra. The results of Maharashtra have gone against our expectations. We are happy that we are going to form the government again in Jharkhand. 

BJP has the best strike rate in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, BJP is leading on 127 seats. Shiv Sena (Shinde) is leading on 55, NCP (Ajit Pawar) on 35. While Congress is leading on 20, Shiv Sena (Uddhav) on 16, NCP (Sharad Pawar) on 13 seats.

Shiv Sena (Shinde) – 71%

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) – 21%

Mahayuti leading on 220 seats in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti is leading on 220 seats. Whereas, the Congress alliance is leading on only 55 seats. In Jharkhand, the JMM alliance seems to be returning to power again. The JMM alliance is leading on 48 seats. While the BJP is leading on 27 seats.

Assembly Election Results 2024: JMM alliance gets majority in Jharkhand

The picture has changed in the trends in Jharkhand. The JMM alliance has once again crossed the majority mark. The BJP alliance is leading on 30 seats here. While the JMM alliance is leading on 48 seats.

Assembly Election Results 2024: BJP is heading towards an all-time high record in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, BJP is leading on 131 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde) on 48 and NCP (Ajit Pawar) on 31 seats. Congress is leading on 35 seats, Shiv Sena (Uddhav) on 20 and Sharad Pawar’s NCP on 10 seats. In 2014, BJP had won the maximum number of 122 seats in Maharashtra. If the trends turn into results, then BJP will set an all-time high record in Maharashtra. 

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ahead by 5,672 votes

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is leading by 5,672 votes in the Wayanad by-election. The CPI candidate is in second place and the BJP is in third place.

Background

Counting of votes for Maharashtra’s 288 seats and Jharkhand’s 81 seats began at 8 am on Saturday, 23 November. Both states are set to announce their assembly election results simultaneously today.

Exit poll figures came out before the election results in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. Most exit polls are in favour of NDA forming government in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. While some exit polls are also predicting the possibility of a hung government in Jharkhand and a Mahavikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.

How were the results in 2019?

There are 288 seats in Maharashtra. 145 seats are needed for majority. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJP won 105 seats in Maharashtra. While Shiv Sena got 56, NCP got 54 and Congress got 44 seats. Then Shiv Sena and NCP were not divided into two factions. In 2019, Shiv Sena and BJP contested the elections together in the state. While NCP and Congress were in the election fray together. Shiv Sena-BJP alliance got majority. But both of them separated over the CM face. After this, Uddhav Thackeray formed the government with the support of Congress and NCP. However, this government lasted for 2.5 years. Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde rebelled with 40 MLAs and came into the government with the support of BJP. Later NCP also split into two factions. Ajit Pawar camp joined the Shinde-BJP government. 

Voting for Jharkhand elections in 2019 was held on 30 November and the results were declared on 20 December. 42 seats are required for majority in Jharkhand which has 81 seats. In the last election, the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha alliance had won this election. Then JMM had won 30 seats, while BJP got 25 and Congress got 16 seats. 

Which party is in which alliance in Maharashtra?

The BJP, which is part of the Mahayuti alliance, has fielded its candidates on 149 seats, Shiv Sena on 81 seats and Ajit Pawar-led NCP on 59 seats. The Congress, which is part of the opposition alliance MVA, has fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (Ubatha) 95 and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) 86 candidates. Small parties including Raj Thackeray’s MNS, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), SP and AIMIM are also in the fray. BSP has fielded 237 candidates and AIMIM 17 candidates in the elections for 288 seats in the state.

Which party is in which alliance in Jharkhand?

In Jharkhand, in NDA, BJP is contesting on 68 seats, AJSU on 10, JDU on 2 and LJP on 1. In INDIA alliance, JMM is contesting on 43 seats, Congress on 30, RJD on 6 and Left parties on 3 seats.
