Different colour number plates: Many types of vehicles run across the country and different colored number plates can also be seen on these vehicles. All these different colored number plates also have different meanings. Some vehicles have such number plates that only a particular person’s vehicle is allowed to use them. Vehicles with many colored number plates like white, yellow, green run across the country. Even vehicles with national symbols can be seen. Know here what kind of number plate a person’s vehicle gets and what is the meaning of these number plates.

Where do vehicles get their numbers from?

It is necessary to have a number plate on every vehicle before it runs on the road. Also, these number plates are installed to identify the vehicles. These number plates are installed on the front and back of the vehicle. The vehicle registration number is written on this number plate. This registration number of vehicles includes English letters and numbers, which give information about the vehicle. These numbers written on the number plates are given by the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

There are 8 types of number plates

8 types of number plates are issued across the country. Some vehicles have white number plates, while others have green, yellow, red or blue number plates. Vehicles are also given black number plates. Some vehicles have an arrow pointing upwards on their number plates, while some special vehicles have the country’s national emblem on their number plates. There are many reasons behind the type of people to whom these different types of number plates are issued.

White Number Plate

Most people in the country are given white number plates. This colour number plate is used for private vehicles. The vehicle number is written in black colour on a white background on such a number plate. Vehicles with such number plates can usually be seen on the roads.

Yellow Number Plate

Yellow number plates are used for transport vehicles in the country. You can see number plates of this colour on buses, rickshaws, taxis and trucks. The vehicle number is written in black colour on these number plates and their background is yellow.

Green Number Plate

Vehicles with green number plates can also be commonly seen on the roads. This colour number plate is given to electric vehicles. There are two ways of writing vehicle numbers on green number plates. Vehicles on which the vehicle number is written in yellow colour with a green background are commercial vehicles. Vehicles on which the vehicle number is written in white colour on a green background are included in private vehicles.

Red Number Plate

Red number plates are not permanent number plates, but these are given to special vehicles for a short period of time. Red number plates are given to brand-new vehicles. This type of number plate has the vehicle number written in white on a red background. This number plate is allowed to be installed only for 30 days. Some states do not allow vehicles with such number plates to be driven.

Blue Number Plate

The vehicles used for foreign missions and embassies are given blue number plates. The vehicle number is written in white colour on such vehicles with a blue background. The vehicles with CC written on their number plates are for the Consular Corps, and the vehicles with UN written on them are for the United Nations. Similarly, different foreign missions and embassies are identified with different letters.

Black Number Plate

Self rental vehicles are given black number plates. Vehicles with black number plates come under the category of commercial vehicles. For this, the driver does not even need a commercial driving license. Such vehicles are numbered in yellow on a black background.

Upward-Pointing Arrow Number Plate

This type of number plate is given to military vehicles. The background of these number plates is yellow and the vehicle number is written in black colour. Also, there is an upward arrow mark on the number plate.

National Emblem of India on Number Plate

In the country, red number plates, on which the national symbol of the country is inscribed, such number plates are given to the vehicles of special persons. The vehicle number is written in white colour on a red background on such vehicles. Along with this, the national emblem of the country is also attached. Such number plates are given to official vehicles. The President of the country, Vice-President, State Governors and many big government officials can use vehicles with these number plates.
