PM Modi in District Courts Conference: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National Conference of District Courts at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi today. He said- Today atrocities against women, safety of children are serious concerns of the society. Many strict laws have been made for the safety of women in the country. In 2019, the government established Fast Track Special Courts. Under this, there is a provision of deposition centers for important witnesses.
In this too, the role of the District Monitoring Committee is important, which includes the District Judge, DM and SP. These committees need to be made more active. The faster the decisions are made in cases related to atrocities against women, the more assurance of safety half the population will get.

Other important points of Modi’s speech…
- To eliminate delay in justice, work has been done at many levels in the last decade. In the last 10 years, the country has spent about 8 thousand crores rupees on judicial infrastructure. 75 percent of the amount spent on judicial infrastructure in the last 25 years has been spent in the last 10 years only.
- We have got a new Indian judicial code in the form of the Indian Judicial Code. The spirit of these laws is- ‘Citizen First, Dignity First and Justice First.’ Our criminal laws have become free from the colonial thinking of rulers and slaves.
- In the last 10 years, work is being done on a mission level for the modernization of courts, in which the Supreme Court and the judiciary have played an important role. Today’s program is also an example of this. In the next two days, many important topics including management of pending cases, human resources and betterment of the legal fraternity will be discussed. A session on ‘Judicial Welfare’ has also been included in this.
Mamata had demanded strict laws
In fact, after the Kolkata rape-murder case, the West Bengal government is demanding the Centre to make strict laws against crimes against women. Regarding this, CM Mamata had also written two letters to the PM on 22 August and 30 August.
In her letter dated August 30, Mamata had said- I had written a letter on August 22 demanding a law to give severe punishment to the rapist, but I did not receive any reply from you on such a sensitive issue.Â
Modi said- People never distrusted our judiciary
PM said, ’75 years of Supreme Court is not just the journey of an institution. This is the journey of the Constitution of India and constitutional values. This is the journey of India becoming more mature as a democracy. The people of India never distrusted the Supreme Court, our judiciary.
Therefore, these 75 years of the Supreme Court further enhance the pride of India as the Mother of Democracy. In the Amrit Kaal of Independence, 140 crore countrymen have only one dream – Developed India, New India. New India means – a modern India with thinking and determination. Our judiciary is a strong pillar of this vision.
The National Conference of District Courts will be held for two days under the chairmanship of CJI
The Supreme Court is organising it. More than 800 participants from district courts of all states and union territories are participating in this conference.
There will be 5 sessions in the conference. On the first day of the conference, there will be discussions on finding ways to increase the infrastructure and human resources of the courts. The security and welfare aspects of the judges will also be discussed.
On the second day of the program, strategies for case handling and reduction in pending cases will be discussed. For this, a session on case management will be organized. Also, judicial training course for judges will also be discussed. On August 1, at the conclusion of the program, President Draupadi Murmu will deliver a speech. She will also unveil the flag and logo of the Supreme Court.
