Farmer’s Protest: Farmers are standing on the borders of Punjab and Haryana. The agitating farmers resumed the march on Delhi Chalo (February 21, 2024) on Wednesday, but they could not succeed in it. During this time, one protester died and about 12 policemen were injured in the clash at Khanauri border. In view of this, farmer leaders announced to postpone the Delhi Chalo March by two days.  

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, “We will discuss the incident that happened in Khanauri.” We will clarify the entire situation later. In such a situation, we will decide the further strategy on Friday evening (February 23, 2024). In fact, after the failure of the fourth round of talks with three Union Ministers in an attempt to end the deadlock, the farmers planned to enter Delhi today. Tried again. 

Who died?

Farmer leader Baldev Singh Sirsa said the victim has been identified as Shubhakaran Singh (21), a resident of Baloke village in Bathinda district of Punjab. HS Rekhi, Medical Superintendent of Patiala-based Rajinder Hospital, said that three people were brought to the hospital from Khanauri, one of whom had died. He said that the deceased had head injury while the condition of the other two people is stable. 

What did Haryana Police say? 

According to news agency PTI, a Haryana Police official said that about 12 policemen were injured when they were attacked with sticks and stones were thrown. 

Farmers invited for fifth round of talks

Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda on Wednesday invited the protesting farmers for the fifth round of talks on all issues including Minimum Support Price (MSP). He said, “We are ready to discuss all issues, be it MSP or crop diversification.” We can find a solution only through dialogue. I have invited him for discussion.
