Farmers have come with tremendous preparations

There is tremendous preparation for the farmers’ movement. The farmers have arrived prepared for every situation. At Dalit Prerna Sthal talked about the farmers’ preparations. The farmers have brought ration and water for several days. Along with this, there is a complete arrangement of tandoor and vegetables for cooking rotis. Small pouches of water have also been brought to the spot in several sacks.

Along with male farmers, women farmers have also joined this movement in large numbers. These women farmers who have come from various districts of western Uttar Pradesh said that this movement is our compulsion and this compulsion is due to them (administration).

The women said that we will not end the protest until our demands are met. We have come prepared with everything. They said that we have brought everything with us, including grinding wheel, stove, clothes etc.

On the other hand, after the farmers gave a seven-day ultimatum and announced to stay at Dalit Prerna Sthal, people got relief from the jam. Traffic has become smooth on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Before that, people had to face the problem of traffic jam for about four-five hours. The problem of traffic jam at Chilla border has also ended.

Farmers' Protest March

These are the demands of the farmers:

  • Under the old land acquisition law, the affected farmers should be given 10% plots and 64.7% increased compensation.
  • Four times the market rate compensation and 20% plot should be given on land acquired after January 1, 2014.
  • The children of landless farmers should be given the benefits of employment and rehabilitation.
  • Government orders should be issued on the issues passed by the High Power Committee.
  • The populated area should be disposed of properly.

Farmers marched, clashes broke out with police too

According to the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad, farmers from 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Aligarh and Agra, took part in the march. Carrying banners and flags of various farmer groups, hundreds of protesters crossed the initial barricades put up by the Noida police. Some climbed the barricades, while others pushed them.

However, the police stopped the farmers near Dalit Prerna Sthal on Noida Link Road, about a kilometer away from Chilla border. Senior police officers tried to convince the farmers.

Traffic came to a halt, there was heavy jam at many places

Due to the farmers’ protest and police checking, commuters passing through Chilla Border, DND Flyway, Delhi Gate and Kalindi Kunj had to face heavy traffic jam for hours. Many commuters had to remain stuck in the jam for hours. Barricades were put up by the police on both sides of the Delhi-Noida border. Due to this, traffic jam occurred. People going from Noida to Delhi faced the most trouble.

To avoid heavy traffic jams, many commuters preferred to travel by metro instead of their personal vehicles. Many people left their homes after seeing the traffic jam situation on Google Maps and used alternative routes. A traffic advisory was issued by Noida Police on Sunday, in which common people were informed about road closures and diversions. This information was useful to many people.

Along with Noida Police, Delhi Police was also fully prepared to stop the farmers. Delhi Police also put up several barricades at Chilla Border on Noida Link Road, DND Flyway and Kalindi Kunj border. Security personnel were also deployed.

On the other hand, a group of farmers from Punjab led by the United Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) has called for a march towards Delhi on December 6. This group has been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since February 13.
