NEET to NET: Questions have been raised for the past several years regarding all the examinations that decide the future of crores of students of the country, but these days these questions became more intense when news of the paper leak of the country’s biggest examination NEET-UG came to light. Investigations are going on in many states regarding this. Meanwhile, after the intervention of the Supreme Court, the issue of grace marks in NEET was resolved but the allegations of paper leak became deeper. This was going on when another important examination UGC-NET, which was held on 18 June, was cancelled on 19 June.

After the inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit attached to the Home Ministry, it was decided to cancel this examination and the investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI.
While more than 23 lakh 33 thousand students appeared in the NEET-UG examination, more than 9 lakh students appeared in the UGC-NET examination. The UGC-NET examination is held for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship in universities across the country.
NTA will be revamped
The Union Education Ministry believes that the UGC NET question paper leak is an institutional failure of the National Testing Agency (NTA). The government is going to make radical changes in the National Testing Agency. The NTA, which is facing the problem of paper leak, will be given a new look. A high level committee is being formed for this. This committee will give its recommendations to the government to improve the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, this high level committee will give its recommendations to the Education Ministry to improve the structure of NTA, the functioning of NTA, the examination process, transparency, data security protocol. The Education Minister told about UGC NET that its questions had come in the dark net. Those questions were tallied with the original question paper. When it became clear that these questions match with the original questions of UGC NET, it was decided to cancel the paper.
Education Minister promised
Regarding NEET, the Education Minister said that we have to take care of the interests of lakhs of meritorious students who have succeeded in passing the exam with great hard work. He praised the work of Patna Police in the NEET case and said that some information is yet to come. The Education Minister said that we are satisfied with the investigation of Patna Police. There is constant conversation with senior officials of Patna Police. Bihar Police is doing some more research in this matter. Dharmendra Pradhan has requested the opposition not to do politics on this issue. Dharmendra Pradhan said that he takes moral responsibility of the matter. Whoever is responsible in this whole cycle will not be spared. Pradhan refused to make any comment regarding Tejashwi Yadav’s PA. The Education Minister requested all the students not to go for any kind of rumor. All the facts are before the Supreme Court. On the number of toppers in NEET, Dharmendra Pradhan said that during Covid, NCERT and CBSE had reduced their syllabus. NEET was held on the basis of this reduced syllabus.

What did the former UGC secretary say?
Who will take responsibility for the problems of students who have been preparing for exams for years? For so many years, there have been reports of paper leaks, why are such cases not taken seriously? Who are those people who leak papers? How far does that mafia reach? On these questions, former member of University Grants Commission MM Ansari said that this is not a matter of any one government. The people who head NTA and UGC should be honest and experts. Today, there are no professionally competent people in these institutions. They lack experience. There are no honest people around them either. The Education Minister took responsibility for the paper leak, but the people running these institutions did not take any responsibility. The government should have taken immediate action against such people.
