‘India becomes 5th largest economy’, President Murmu

President Draupadi Murmu said in her address to the nation, “We are celebrating the 75th anniversary of our Constitution. The journey of our newly independent nation has faced serious obstacles. Remaining firm on the constitutional ideals of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity, we are moving ahead with the mission to ensure that India regains its proud place on the world stage.

By achieving an average annual growth rate of 8 per cent between 2021 and 2024, India is among the fastest growing large economies. This has not only brought more money into the hands of the countrymen, but has also drastically reduced the number of people living below the poverty line.

It is a matter of pride for all of us that India has become the fifth largest economy in the world, and we are set to soon be among the top three economies of the world. This success has been possible only due to the tireless hard work of farmers and workers, the far-sightedness of policy makers and entrepreneurs and the visionary leadership of the country.

Our food-providing farmers have ensured better agricultural production than expected. By doing so, they have made an invaluable contribution in making India self-reliant in the agricultural sector and providing food to our countrymen.

After successfully completing its presidency of the G-20, India has strengthened its role as a country giving a vocal expression to the Global South. India wants to use its influential position to expand world peace and prosperity.

In her address to the nation, President Draupadi Murmu said, “The spirit of inclusion is visible in every aspect of our social life. With our diversities and multiplicities, we are moving forward as a nation, united, together. As a means of inclusion, affirmative action must be strengthened. I strongly believe that in a vast country like India, tendencies that promote discord on the basis of perceived social strata must be rejected. Many special schemes have also been implemented by the government keeping women at the center. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act aims to ensure real empowerment of women.”

Praised the contribution of farmers

President Draupadi Murmu said, “Our food-providing farmers have ensured that agricultural production remains better than expected. Along with this, they have made a huge contribution in making India self-reliant in the field of agriculture and feeding our people.”

India has strengthened its role in the Global South

President Draupadi Murmu said, “After the successful completion of the G-20 Presidency, India has strengthened its role as the voice of the Global South. India wants to use its influential position to expand the scope of world peace and prosperity.”

The country is waiting for Gaganyaan mission

In her address to the nation, President Draupadi Murmu said, “In recent years, India has made unprecedented progress in the field of space. Along with all of you, I too am eagerly looking forward to the launch of Gaganyaan Mission next year, which will carry a team of Indian astronauts to space in India’s first human spaceflight.”

India performed brilliantly in Paris Olympics

President Draupadi Murmu said, “Sports is also one area in which our country has made great progress in the last decade. The government has given due priority to the development of sports infrastructure and the results are showing. The Indian contingent gave its best in the recently concluded Paris Olympic Games. I appreciate the dedication and hard work of the players. They have inspired the youth.”

President speaks on India’s victory in T20 World Cup

President Draupadi Murmu said, “In cricket, India won the T-20 World Cup, which brought joy to a large number of cricket lovers. In chess, young players with exceptional talent have made the country proud. This is being considered the beginning of the Indian era in chess. In badminton, tennis and other sports, our young players are making their mark on the world stage. Their achievements have also inspired the next generation.”

The President mentioned the youth in his address to the nation

In her address to the nation, President Draupadi Murmu said, “To make proper use of youth talent, the government has taken initiatives to make skills, employment and other opportunities accessible. Four crore ten lakh youth will benefit in five years through the Prime Minister’s five schemes for employment and skills. A new initiative of the government will enable one crore youth to do internships in leading companies in five years. All these steps will make a fundamental contribution in building a developed India.”

President enumerates the benefits of the new education policy

President Draupadi Murmu said, “Today’s youth will give shape to the Amrit Kaal till the centenary of our independence, that is, the period of about a quarter of a century from today. It is on the strength of their energy and enthusiasm that our country will reach new heights. Developing the minds and hearts of the youth, creating a new mindset that embraces the best dimensions of tradition and contemporary knowledge is our priority. In this context, the results of the National Education Policy implemented from the year 2020 are coming to the fore.”

What did President Murmu say while referring to Partition Horrors Memorial Day?

President Draupadi Murmu said, “We are part of a tradition that connects the dreams of freedom fighters and the aspirations of future generations who will see our nation regain its full glory in the years to come. We have started celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Tribal Pride Day.

The celebration of his 150th birth anniversary next year will be an opportunity to honour his contribution to national renaissance more deeply. Today, on 14 August, our country is observing Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. It is a day to remember the horrors of Partition.

When our great nation was partitioned, millions of people were forced to migrate. Millions lost their lives. A day before celebrating Independence Day, we remember that unprecedented human tragedy and stand in solidarity with the families who were torn apart.”
