Shimla Sanjauli Masjid Case: Shimla Masjid Illegal Construction: There was a protest on Wednesday demanding demolition of the illegal part of a mosque in Sanjauli area of Shimla (Shimla Masjid Case). The protesters were protesting against the illegal construction of the mosque. Local people remained on the streets for more than 5 hours. During this, they also clashed with the security personnel. The police even put up barricades to stop the protesters, but the angry people broke it too. The police used water cannons and lathicharge to disperse the crowd. During this, about 10 people, including police and women, were injured.

The protest march held on Wednesday was called to demand the demolition of the illegal part of a mosque in Sanjauli area of Shimla. He said that the hearing of this case is going on in the local municipal court. The law is doing its work.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the government is seriously concerned about the deterioration of the situation and is keeping a close watch on all developments. He said, “We are in touch with the central leadership and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and have spoken to party president Mallikarjun Kharge and party in-charge Rajiv Shukla. They are also concerned that the law and order situation should not deteriorate.”
Slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindu Unity Zindabad”
Hundreds of protesters gathered at Sabzi Mandi Dhalli shouting slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindu Ekta Zindabad” and defying prohibitory orders, ignored the administration’s warning and started marching towards Sanjauli. They broke the barricades erected near the Dhalli tunnel. When the protesters, who had gathered at the call of some Hindu groups, entered Sanjauli and broke other barricades erected near the mosque, the police resorted to lathicharge and water cannon to disperse them.

During this time, the police took some protesters into custody, including Hindu Jagran Manch secretary Kamal Gautam, and again put up barricades near the mosque. But the protesters were not ready to move from there. They were continuously raising slogans against the administration.
