ADR Report: On Sunday, June 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath of office and secrecy along with 71 ministers. Out of 71 ministers, 30 have been given cabinet status. On June 10, the division of ministries was done among all the ministers and today everyone took charge of their respective responsibilities. New information is coming out about the background of the new ministers. Meanwhile, the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms- ADR has caught everyone’s attention. The report shows that out of 71 ministers in Modi Government 3.0, 28 are such whose reputation is tainted. That is, a police report has been filed against these ministers in some case or the other. Serious criminal cases are registered against 19 out of 29 ministers.

Election rights body Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) has claimed that 28 ministers of the Narendra Modi government have criminal cases against them, of which 19 face serious charges like attempt to murder, crimes against women and hate speech.
Two of the ministers facing the most serious charges have declared in their affidavits that they have cases related to attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). ADR said that these include Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shantanu Thakur and Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region Sukanta Majumdar. ADR has also revealed in its report the names of 5 ministers who have cases related to crimes against women registered against them. These include Minister of State (MoS) Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Shantanu Thakur, Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi and Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram.
Additionally, the ADR report identified eight ministers with cases related to hate speech. A total of 28 out of 71 ministers (39 per cent) have declared criminal cases, the report said.
99% of the new ministers are crorepatis
According to the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), an organization working towards electoral reforms in the country, out of the 71 members of the new Council of Ministers led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 70 or 99% are crorepatis and their average wealth is Rs 107.94 crore.
ADR said that among the ministers, there are 6 who have assets worth more than Rs 100 crore. Minister of State in the Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Communications, Dr Chandrashekhar Pemmasani tops the list with total assets of Rs 5705.47 crore. Communications Minister and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has declared total assets worth Rs 424.75 crore. Heavy Industries Minister and Steel Minister of Janata Dal (Secular) HD Kumaraswamy has total assets worth Rs 217.23 crore.
