S Jaishankar at UNGA: In the 79th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday (September 28, 2024), India’s Foreign Minister warned the countries of the world against the war in Ukraine and Gaza. We cannot think that the large-scale violence in the world was predetermined. The Gaza war shows that it has had an impact on the world’s systems.” In this meeting, he urged the rest of the countries to find an immediate solution to the wars going on around the world.

Today’s world is desperate- Jaishankar
S Jaishankar said, “We have gathered here at a difficult time. The world has still not recovered from the havoc of the Covid pandemic. The war in Ukraine is in its third year. The war in Gaza is taking a terrible form.” S Jaishankar said, “Today’s world is fragile, desperate and divided into opposing groups. Processes between countries are ending and trust is breaking. Countries have taken out more than they have given in the international system, which clearly shows how processes are ending.
Foreign Minister Jaishankar said, “In the situation prevailing in today’s world, it has become difficult to communicate with each other. It has become even more difficult to reach a consensus on any issue.”
Reiterated the need for reform of the Security Council
The Foreign Minister said that when there is a lack of restraint in capturing the market, it harms the livelihood and social fabric of others. Avoiding climate-related responsibilities by developed countries weakens the development prospects of developing countries. He said that India has been demanding reform in the Security Council for years, which includes demanding an increase in the number of members in both its permanent and temporary categories.
