At the beginning of every month, the government changes the prices of LPG cylinders. This time too, prices are likely to change on January 1, 2025. The price of a 14 kg domestic cylinder had remained stable for a long time, but the prices of commercial cylinders have seen fluctuations.

2. Increase in the prices of cars  

If you are thinking of buying a car, then you may have to spend more from January 1. Major auto companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, and BMW are going to increase the prices of vehicles by up to 3%.

3. E-KYC is necessary for ration card  

The government has made e-KYC mandatory for ration card holders. Ration cards that do not complete the e-KYC process by 31 December 2024 will be cancelled from 1 January 2025.

4. Improvement in pension withdrawal rules  

EPFO has made the rules easier for pensioners. Now they can withdraw their pension from any bank in the country, and there will be no need for additional verification for this.

5. ATM facility for EPFO ​​members  

The government is planning to start ATM card facility for employees registered under EPFO. With this, employees will be able to easily withdraw money from their PF account.

6. Increase in UPI limit for feature phone users  

Under the UPI 123Pay service, feature phone users will now be able to make payments up to Rs 10,000. Earlier this limit was Rs 5,000.

7. New rules for fixed deposits  

RBI has changed the rules related to fixed deposits for NBFCs and HFCs. These rules will come into effect from January 1, 2025 and will ensure the safety of deposits.

8. Changes in US visa rules  

The US Embassy in India will offer a one-time rescheduling facility for non-immigrant visas from January 1, 2025. After this, a fee will be charged for rescheduling.

9. New dates for Sensex and banking derivative contracts  

BSE has announced that from January 1, 2025, the weekly contracts of Sensex and Bankex will expire every Tuesday, which earlier used to expire on Friday.

10. Banks will remain closed for 15 days in January  

Banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days in January. These include Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays as well as holidays on festivals. However, the list of official holidays of RBI has not been released yet.

Today is the last day of the year, the calendar will change from tomorrow. 10 important things are also changing in 2025. Some of these are conveniences, some are restrictions and some are important to know.

Top 10 changes of 2025 which are related to your life…

1. UPI Payment Limit Doubles

  • From January 1, people using UPI on feature phones will be able to make online payments of up to ₹10,000.
  • Current Limit: The UPI payment limit on feature phones is ₹5,000.

2. Pension Withdrawal from Any Bank

  • From January 1, pensioners across the country will be able to withdraw their pensions from any bank.
  • There will be no need for additional verification to access pensions.
  • Current Rule: Pension withdrawals are limited to the designated bank branch where the account is maintained.

3. Separate Recharge for Calling

  • Telecom companies will introduce separate packs for calling, SMS, and data. If you want to use calling services, you will need to purchase a dedicated pack.
  • Current Rule: People currently using calling services through data recharge will need to switch to a calling-specific recharge.

4. Cars and Commercial Vehicles to Get Expensive

  • Brands like Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, and Kia will increase the prices of their vehicles from January 1.
  • The prices of commercial vehicles will also go up by 2-3%.
  • Reason: Companies cite rising production costs and supply chain issues for the price hikes.

5. WhatsApp Won’t Work on Older Phones

  • From January 1, WhatsApp will stop functioning on phones with operating systems older than Android 4.4 (KitKat).
  • Impact: Phones using operating systems released before Android 4.4 will no longer support WhatsApp.

6. Stricter Pollution Norms

  • From April 1, new emission norms (Bharat Stage-7) will be implemented to regulate vehicle pollution.
  • Current Rule: Since April 2019, Bharat Stage-6 emission norms have been in effect.

7. Major Changes in Cricket

  • IPL will introduce a new captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after Virat Kohli.
  • Current Rule: Currently, major cricketing changes include the appointment of Ajinkya Rahane as India’s Test vice-captain, and new Test match rules are being discussed for stricter enforcement.

8. No Promotions in Classes 5 and 8 Without Passing

  • The no-detention policy will be abolished for Classes 5 and 8. Students must now pass their exams to be promoted to the next grade.
  • Current Rule: Students are currently promoted to the next grade regardless of their performance under the no-detention policy.

9. Coaching Ends at Age 16

  • Coaching centers will no longer be able to admit children below the age of 16. The Ministry of Education is preparing strict rules in this regard.
  • Current Status: Rules regarding age and discipline are being finalized. The government will soon issue new guidelines.

10. 10% Reservation for Agniveers

  • Agniveers (soldiers recruited under the Agnipath scheme) will receive a 10% reservation in the recruitment process for CISF and BSF.
  • Current Status: A 25% reservation for Agniveers has already been implemented in permanent army recruitment.
