Assembly by Elections Result 2024: The results of assembly by-elections held on 13 seats in 7 states including Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have come out. Voting was held on all the seats on July 10. Of these, Congress has won 4, TMC 4, BJP 2, AAP, DMK and Independent have won 1 seat each.

Out of these 13 seats, BJP had 3 seats, Congress had 2, TMC had 1, JDU had 1, AAP had 1, DMK had 1, BSP had 1 and Independent had 3 seats. In this by-election, BJP has got 2 seats, Congress has got 4, TMC has got 4, JDU has got 0, AAP has got 1, DMK has got 1, BSP has got 0 and Independent has got 1 seat.

That means BJP has lost 1 seat, its ally JDU has lost 1 seat. Congress has gained 2 seats and TMC has gained 3 seats. Out of the 3 independents who joined BJP in Himachal, only 1 won the election, 2 lost. In Punjab too, the candidates who joined from AAP lost the election.

NDA: BJP contested 11 seats, lost 9; both allies lost

In the NDA block, BJP contested 11 out of 13 seats and JDU, PMK contested two others. Of these, BJP won only Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh and Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh. JDU lost Rupauli in Bihar and PMK lost Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu.

INDIA: Congress contested on 9 seats, won on 4, gained two seats

Out of 13 seats in INDIA block, Congress contested on 9, RJD on 1, CPI (M) on 2 and DMK on 1 seat. Congress won on 4 seats. These include Dehra, Nalgarh seat in Himachal Pradesh and Badrinath, Mangalore seat in Uttarakhand. DMK won on Vikravandi seat in Tamil Nadu.

TMC won one-sidedly in West Bengal

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) won 4 assembly seats in West Bengal. Last time BJP had 3 seats, but this time TMC snatched all three seats.

What did Pawan Khera say on Congress’ victory in the by-election?

On the results of the assembly by-elections, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “These by-elections held on 13 seats are very important. For the second time in one and a half months, the people of the country have given a strong message to the BJP. The message was very clear in the Lok Sabha elections. In Uttarakhand, we won both our seats, Badrinath and Mangalore. In Himachal Pradesh, Congress won 2 out of 3 seats and if we assess the total 13 seats, then BJP got only 2 seats.”

NDA suffers setback in by-election

NDA has suffered a major setback in the by-elections held on 13 assembly seats. TMC has won three out of four seats in Bengal, while it is leading on one. Similarly, Congress has won two seats in Himachal, while BJP has won on one. BJP candidate is ahead in Madhya Pradesh. Independents are leading from Rupauli seat in Bihar. DMK candidate is leading in Tamil Nadu, while AAP has won in Punjab.

In the by-elections held on four seats in West Bengal, TMC has won four seats. TMC candidate Krishna Kalyani has won the Raiganj seat by 49536 votes. Mukut Mani Adhikari has won the Ranaghat South seat by 38616 votes. TMC candidate Madhuparna Thakur has also won in Bagda. TMC won the Maniktala seat also.

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur wins

Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur has won the by-election held on the Dehra assembly seat of Himachal Pradesh. She is the wife of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. She has defeated BJP candidate Hoshiar Singh by 9399 votes.

Congress wins from Nalagarh seat

Hardeep Singh Bawa of Congress has won the Nalagarh assembly seat in Himachal Pradesh. He has defeated Krishan Lal Thakur of BJP.

BJP wins in Hamirpur

Ashish Sharma of Bharatiya Janata Party has won in Hamirpur. He defeated Dr. Pushpendra Verma of Congress. 

Independent candidate wins Rupauli seat

Independent candidate Shankar Singh has won the Rupauli seat in Bihar. BJP’s Kaladhar Mandal came in second place and RJD’s Bima Bharti came in third.

DMK wins Vikravandi seat in Tamil Nadu

In the Tamil Nadu by-election, DMK’s Anniyur Siva won the Vikravandi assembly seat by 67,757 votes. 

BJP lost Mangalore seat in a close contest

Congress’ Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin won the Mangalore assembly by-election in Uttarakhand. He defeated BJP’s Kartar Singh Bhadana by 422 votes. 

Congress defeats BJP in Badrinath

Congress’ Lakhpat Singh Butola has won the Badrinath by-election. He defeated BJP’s Rajendra Bhandari by 5,224 votes. 

Background

Assembly By Electios Result 2024: After the Lok Sabha elections, by-elections were held on Wednesday (July 10) for 13 assembly seats in seven states. Counting of votes on all these seats has started at 8 am today. In this election, many big names including Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, are in the fray. The seats on which by-elections have been held include Raiganj, Ranaghat South, Bagda and Maniktala in West Bengal, Badrinath and Mangalore in Uttarakhand, Jalandhar West in Punjab, Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh, Rupauli in Bihar, Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu and Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh.

By-elections are being held in these places due to vacancies arising due to the death or resignation of the current MLAs. In this by-election, the highest voting percentage of 78.38 percent was recorded in Amarwara assembly seat of Madhya Pradesh. In Bengal, 65.15 percent voting was recorded in Bagda seat, 67.12 percent in Raiganj seat, 51.39 percent in Maniktala seat and 65.37 percent in Ranaghat South seat. 

In Bihar’s only seat Rupauli, 51.14 percent voting took place. In Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur seat, 65.78 percent voting took place, in Nalagarh seat 75.22 percent, in Dehra seat 63.89 percent voting took place. In Punjab’s Jalandhar assembly seat, 51.30 percent voting took place. A total of 15 candidates are in the fray in the by-election here.

77.73 percent voting took place in Vikravandi assembly seat of Tamil Nadu. The lowest voting of 47.68 percent took place in Badrinath seat of Uttarakhand. Here there is a direct contest between BJP’s Rajendra Bhandari and Congress candidate Lakhpat Singh Butola. 67.28 percent voting took place in Mangalore seat of Uttarakhand.

In this by-election, BJP had also accused TMC of disrupting the election process. BJP candidate from Raiganj assembly seat Manas Kumar Ghosh had alleged that the ruling TMC had tried to create disturbances at some booths in the constituency during voting for the by-election.
