Assembly Elections 2024: Assembly elections have been announced in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. The Election Commission has announced the elections to be held in both the states on 16 August 2024. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has announced the assembly elections. Elections will be held in Haryana in one phase. At the same time, after almost a decade, elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases. Let us tell you that assembly elections are being held for the first time after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and after it got the status of a Union Territory.

Voting will be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir
Voting on September 18, 25, and October 1; Results on October 4

Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases. Announcing the dates, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that voting will be held in Jammu and Kashmir on 18 September, 25 September and 1 October 2024. Counting of votes will take place on 4 October. This means that on this day it will be decided whose government will be formed in Jammu and Kashmir. Notification will be issued on August 20 for the first phase in Jammu and Kashmir, August 29 for the second and September 5 for the third phase of elections. At the same time, the last date for filing nominations for the first phase will be August 27, September 5 for the second and September 12 for the third phase. Apart from this, candidates will be able to withdraw nominations till August 30, September 9 and September 17.

Voter list of Jammu and Kashmir will be released on August 20

Rajiv Kumar said that there are a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 74 are general, SC-7 and ST-9. There will be a total of 87.09 lakh voters in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 44.46 lakh are men, 42.62 lakh are women, 3.71 lakh are first-time voters and 20.7 lakh are young voters. The Amarnath Yatra will end on August 19 and the final voter list will also be published on August 20.

Elections in one phase in Haryana
Voting on October 1; Results on October 4

The stage for the assembly elections in Haryana is now fully set. The Election Commission has announced the dates for the assembly elections. This time voting will be held in one phase in Haryana. Voting for all the assembly seats in Haryana will be held in one phase on October 1, 2024, while the counting of votes will be done on October 4. This time the assembly elections in Haryana are likely to be very interesting. Both the ruling BJP and Congress have claimed to be fully prepared for the elections. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also gave special information for Haryana. He said that there are 2.01 crore voters in 90 assembly seats in Haryana. The Election Commission said that the voter list will be released on August 27. The Chief Election Commissioner said that a change has been made in Haryana. This time polling stations will also be set up in multi-housing societies.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there are a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana, out of which 73 are general, SC-17 and ST-0. There will be a total of 2.01 crore voters in Haryana, out of which 1.06 crore are men, 0.95 crore women, 4.52 lakh first-time voters and 40.95 lakh young voters. The voter list of Haryana will be published on August 27, 2024.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the picture that India showed to the world sent a message to the world, the shine will be visible for a long time. Wherever elections are held in the world, they will remind us of the comparison with India. Our team had gone to Jammu Kashmir for election review, there was tremendous enthusiasm among the people. Everyone looked eager. The long lines were a picture of hope and democracy, showing that the people want change and they want to be a part of it.

Water arrangements at all booths in Haryana

Rajiv Kumar said that all the booths will have provision for drinking water, male/female bathrooms, sheds for people standing in queues. People aged 85+ will be allowed to vote from home. Agents of political parties can accompany them. This will be videographed.

When Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar was asked why elections in Maharashtra are not being held along with Haryana, he said, ‘Elections have been announced in Jammu and Kashmir, so the decision to hold elections in Maharashtra has not been taken yet. Many things are looked into before holding elections. Security forces will be deployed in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. Then many festivals are also going to come during this period. Pitru Paksha, Navratri, Dussehra-Diwali will fall, so they have not been announced yet.
