Elections 2024, Congress Candidate List: Congress has released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission has not yet announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections, even before this the first list of Congress candidates has come out. Congress has announced candidates for 39 seats. Rahul Gandhi will once again be seen contesting from Wayanad seat. Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel will contest elections from Rajnandgaon this time. The party announced the names of the candidates in a press conference at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.

Bhupesh Baghel will contest elections from Rajnandgaon

Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said that we are announcing the first list of 39 candidates today. This includes Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. In this list, 15 people are from general category and 24 people are from SC, ST, OBC and minority category. The names of 39 candidates are in the first list of Congress. In this, Shivkumar Dahiya from Janjgir Champa, Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon, Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram, Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad, DK Suresh from Bengaluru Rural will contest.

First list next day of Congress CEC meeting

The party’s Central Election Committee meeting was held a day before the first list of Congress candidates. Many prominent leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Sachin Pilot were present in this meeting held on Thursday. Rahul Gandhi is currently busy in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, hence he did not attend the Congress CEC meeting. Only after this meeting it seemed that the Congress leadership can announce the names of the candidates any time. Now the party has released the first list. Let us tell you that before this BJP has also released the first list of candidates.

Congress released list for Chhattisgarh

Congress has released the first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh . The names of many stalwarts are in this list. The party has made former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel its candidate from Rajnandgaon. Whereas former minister Tamradhwaj Sahu has been made the candidate from Mahasamund. 

Shivkumar Dehariya from Janjgir Champa (SC), Jyotsna Mahant from Korba, Rajendra Sahu from Durg and Vikas Upadhyay from Raipur have been made candidates.

Earlier, quoting news agency PTI, sources said that former Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo will not contest the elections.

Bhupesh Baghel will face BJP’s Santosh Pandey. Senior leaders Tamradhwaj Sahu and Roop Kumar Choudhary will face each other on Mahasamund seat.
