This model was a major reason for the meteoric rise of Narendra Modi to national power in 2014. It became the foundation for national campaigns such as ‘Make in India’, ‘Ease of Doing Business’, and the famous slogan “Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai”.
However, Congress believes that the sheen of this model is wearing off. Even in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, despite an alliance with AAP, Congress could secure only one seat out of 26. BJP’s vote share soared above 61%, while Congress managed just over 31%. A slight silver lining: Congress led in 20 assembly segments, indicating minor gains since 2022.
