Elections 2024 Results: In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the highest number of women candidates have won from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This time 31 women leaders of the party will become MPs. However, this figure has declined by 11 points compared to the last election. In the 2019 general elections, 42 women leaders of BJP became MPs.

Congress is second in terms of giving the most number of women MPs. This time 13 candidates of the party have won, whereas in the last election this figure was only seven. That means this time Congress will have six more women MPs. At number three in the list is All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, from whose side 10 women candidates have won this time but in 2019 the total number of MPs was nine.

Interestingly, through the Women’s Reservation Bill, women get 33 percent reservation in the lower house of Parliament and state legislatures. However, even after this, only 13 percent women have been elected as MPs in the 18th Lok Sabha, whereas in the 17th Lok Sabha, 78 women were elected out of a total of 543 candidates.

There is such an improvement in numbers as compared to the 2019 general elections

In this general election, out of a total of 8337 candidates, only 797 were women. However, compared to the last election (2019), this time there was an increase of 10 percent women candidates. In 2019, only 720 women were in the political field as candidates. The data also shows that 12% of the women candidates are from national parties.
