Haryana Elections: Congress released the second list of nine candidates for the Haryana assembly elections on Sunday. Chaudhary Virendra Singh’s son Brijendra Singh has been given a ticket from Uchana Kalan. Similarly, the party expressed confidence in Anirudh Chaudhary from Tosham. An interesting contest will be seen from Tosham assembly constituency because Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given ticket to Shruti Chaudhary, who is Anirudh Chaudhary’s cousin. For Congress, Mohit Grover from Gurugram and Vardhan Yadav from Badshahpur will try their luck.

Apart from Brijendra Singh and Grover, the Congress has fielded Ashok Arora from Thanesar, Kuldeep Sharma from Ganaur, Paramveer Singh from Tohana, Balram Dangi from Meham and Manju Chaudhary from Nangal Chaudhary.

The Congress on Friday released its first list of 32 candidates for the elections, naming former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, state unit chief Udaybhan from Hodal seat and wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana.

Congress had earlier released a list of 31 candidates, but a little later the CEC said in a statement that the party has nominated Balbir Singh from Israna seat (reserved). Singh is the sitting MLA from Israna seat. Congress has re-nominated all its 28 MLAs. Congress has fielded Meva Singh from Ladwa against Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini.

The biggest name among the nine candidates announced in the second list is that of former MP Brijendra Singh. Brijendra Singh, who is the son of Chaudhary Birendra and has been an MP from Hisar, has been fielded against former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala from Uchana Kalan seat. Before the Lok Sabha elections, Chaudhary father and son had left BJP and returned home to Congress.

Aniruddh Chaudhary has got a ticket from Tosham against Kiran Chaudhary’s daughter Shruti Chaudhary. Aniruddh is the grandson of former CM Bansi Lal. This means that there will be a contest between Bansi Lal’s grandson and granddaughter on this seat.

Mohit Grover has been fielded from Gurugram and Vardhan Yadav from Badshahpur. Both are young faces of the party. Apart from this, Kuldeep Sharma from Ganaur and Ashok Arora from Thanesar have been given tickets. Congress has fielded Paramveer Singh from Tohna and Balram Dangi from Meham.

Congress has so far announced the names of candidates for 41 seats

Out of the 90 assembly seats in Haryana, Congress has so far announced the names of candidates for 41 seats. Earlier on Friday (September 6), Congress had released two back-to-back lists and announced the names of a total of 32 candidates. In the first list, Congress had announced the names of candidates for many important seats of the state.

In the first list, Congress has given place to former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, this time he will try his luck from Garhi Sampla Kiloi seat. Apart from this, the party has made Vinesh Phogat, who entered politics from athletics, a candidate from Julana seat.

In the first list, Congress has fielded Aftab Ahmed from Nuh assembly seat, Mohammad Ilyas from Punhana, Maman Khan Engineer from Ferozepur Jhirka, Chiranjeev Rao from Rewari seat and Renu Bala from Sadhora by giving them tickets again.

Highlights of the second list of Congress party

  • Ashok Arora has got the ticket from Thanesar assembly seat. He has previously been the state president of INLD. He had joined Congress some time ago.
  • Anirudh Chaudhary has got the ticket from Tosham assembly constituency. He is Bansi Lal’s grandson.
  • Vardhan Yadav is a young candidate from Badshahpur, he has got the ticket from Youth Congress quota. He is 32 years old.
  • Mohit Grover had contested the last election as an independent from Gurgaon, this time Congress has given him a ticket.
  • Paramveer Singh has got the ticket from Tohana, he was a minister in the Hooda government in 2009.

Talks are going on between Congress and AAP regarding alliance

Several rounds of talks have been held between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress regarding alliance for Haryana assembly elections. However, both the parties have not yet reached a position to take a final decision. There is a buzz that Congress can give 5 seats to Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana. Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chaddha, who is in talks with Congress regarding alliance, said in a poetic style that there is a desire, there is a longing and there is hope.

Sources are claiming that Congress has agreed to give 5 seats to Aam Aadmi Party and Aam Aadmi Party has also almost agreed on this. It is worth mentioning that Aam Aadmi Party was earlier demanding 10 seats, however later there was a discussion that AAP will agree on 7 seats. However, now the discussion is going on about 5 seats. According to sources, very positive talks are going on between both the parties. However, by announcing the candidate for the Gurugram seat, Congress has put an end to the speculations in which it was being said that this seat could be given to Aam Aadmi Party.

Congress workers protest

Some Congress workers in Haryana protested outside the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters on Sunday and demanded that local leaders be given preference over “outsiders” in the party. The workers protested to express their displeasure over giving tickets to relatives of leaders. Most of the protesters were from Bawani Khera in Haryana and held placards that read “Will not tolerate outsider candidates”.

Elections will be held on October 5

Let us tell you, elections will be held on 5 October next month in one phase on 90 assembly seats of Haryana. While the counting of votes on all seats will be done on 8 October. Less than a month is left for the assembly elections, in such a situation Congress does not want to leave any stone unturned in its election preparations.
