Elections 2024, BJP’s Mission 370: Preparations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 are going on in full swing under the leadership of BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of 400+ seats for NDA and 370 seats for BJP alone in this election. There are 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. 272 seats are required to form a government at the Centre. BJP got 282 seats in the 2014 elections and 303 seats in the 2019 elections. With a target of 370 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP has decided to focus on the 161 seats it lost in 2019. The party leadership has told the cadre that the target given by PM Modi can be achieved by winning 67 of those seats. It is worth noting that BJP has already reached saturation point in North India and West India. Now to achieve the target of 370 seats, the party will have to win maximum seats in South India.
BJP’s win was in the name of PM Modi in 2014 and 2019. The people of the country gave tremendous support to PM Modi and the party. The question is whether BJP will get the same support once again? Has BJP created psychological pressure on its opponents by presenting this figure in front of the country? TV channels are not discussing whether BJP will win the elections or not, rather the discussion is about whether BJP will be able to cross the figure of 370 or not? If it will be able to do so, then how? Or is this a part of BJP’s strategy to get a psychological edge over its opponents.

Why did PM Modi choose this figure 370?
The question is why did PM Modi choose this figure for BJP? The reason behind this has also been given. From the Jansangh era to BJP, the abolition of Article 370 in Kashmir has been an emotional issue. That is why the party has put this figure of 370 in front of the public, because in 2019 the Modi government removed Article 370 from Kashmir.
How will BJP be able to conquer Mission 370?
PM Modi has set the target for BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, now the discussion is going on about how the party will achieve this target. Talking about North India and West India, BJP has reached saturation point there. If we take the example of Gujarat, BJP won all 26 seats here in the last two Lok Sabha elections. In Rajasthan too, the party captured all 25 seats. BJP also has all 10 seats in Haryana. In the 2019 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 62 out of 80 seats in UP. BJP’s ally Apna Dal (S) won 2 seats. The saffron party won 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar. 28 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh went to the party’s account.
BJP is already leading with a huge number in North India and West India. In such a situation, it is clear that now BJP’s entire focus and full force is on South India to reach the figure of 370. PM Narendra Modi is making rapid visits to woo the 5 states of South India. After becoming the PM, he has visited South India more than 50 times.
PM Modi has visited South India 20 times since January
If we talk about this year, then from January till now PM Modi has visited South India more than 20 times. PM Modi’s focus is on Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. But the effort is also to get support for the party from Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and Lakshadweep apart from these.
There are 131 Lok Sabha seats in South India. BJP has 29 of these seats. But if BJP has to achieve the target of 370 seats, then it will have to get greater support from South India. BJP has also done its calculations regarding this. The party has identified its allies in different states of South India. Talks have been held with some parties. Talks are going on with some parties. Seat sharing has also been done at some places, but like cricket, strike rate is a big factor in elections.
This was the strike rate of BJP in the last 2 elections
In politics, strike rate means how many candidates a party fields. How many of them win. For example, in 2014, BJP fielded 428 candidates, out of which 282 won. That means despite getting only 31% votes, BJP’s strike rate was 65.88%. In simple words, out of every 100 candidates, 100 candidates won for BJP.
In 2019, BJP fielded 437 candidates. This is the largest number in the history of BJP. BJP had never fielded more candidates than this till now. Out of these, 303 candidates won. The party got about 37 percent votes and the strike rate reached about 70 percent. According to this, if BJP fields 450 candidates this time, then to achieve this target, it needs a strike rate of 82.22%. That is, 82 out of every 100 candidates should win, only then this target can be achieved.
What is the challenge before BJP now?
If BJP has to achieve the target of 370 seats, then it will have to increase its strike rate. In the 2019 elections, BJP’s strike rate was 70 percent. Now it will have to take it to 82 percent. That is, out of every 100 candidates, 82 candidates will have to win. Only then will the party be able to hit the target of 370 seats. For this, BJP has to maintain its performance in North, West, East, Northeast and Central India. Along with this, some more improvements will also be needed. At the same time, the party will have to show strength in South India and win as many seats as possible.
There are a total of 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. BJP has formed an alliance with PMK in Tamil Nadu and has given it 10 seats. If we talk about a strike rate of 82 percent, then BJP will have to win 30 seats there.
