During this, posters were also torn. The proceedings of the House were adjourned for 20 minutes due to the uproar. Langate MLA Sheikh Khurshid had reached the House with a poster demanding the restoration of Article 370. Seeing this poster, the BJP MLAs got angry and snatched the poster from his hand. During this, a scuffle broke out. The BJP MLAs took the poster from Sheikh Khurshid’s hand and tore it. After this, the BJP MLA created a ruckus.

BJP blames National Conference

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ravindra Raina said that Article 370 has now become history in Jammu and Kashmir. The Omar Abdullah government is encouraging Pakistan. 370 gave birth to terrorism, separatism and Pakistan’s mentality in Jammu and Kashmir. In such a situation, bringing the proposal of 370 in the assembly in an unconstitutional manner and presenting it in a hurry by hiding like thieves shows that the National Conference and Congress want to worsen the situation in Jammu and Kashmir again. The National Conference and Congress have stabbed Bharat Mata on the back.

BJP MLA got angry after seeing the poster

The angry crowd was raising slogans against the government after the bill passed by the government to remove Article 370. Meanwhile, Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh, MLA of Awami Ittehad Party from Langate assembly seat, started showing a banner related to the removal of Article 370 in the House. After this, a scuffle broke out between the MLAs of the ruling and opposition parties. BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Sunil Sharma opposed the display of the banner. As the uproar increased, the marshal had to come to intervene. After this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned for some time. Let us tell you that Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh is the brother of Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid from Baramulla.

Sheikh’s brother accused of terror funding

MLA Khurshid Ahmed Sheikh, who waved the banner, is the brother of Baramulla Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid. Rashid was arrested in 2016 under UAPA on charges of terror funding in Jammu and Kashmir. He has been lodged in Tihar Jail since 2019.

On November 6, the proposal to restore 370 was passed by the assembly

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Wednesday passed a proposal to restore the special status (Article 370) of the state. The BJP alleged that the National Conference is misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said that no assembly can bring back Article 370 and 35A.

It was written in the proposal – The government should talk about the special status of Jammu and Kashmir

As soon as the proceedings of the House began, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM Surinder Chaudhary presented a proposal to restore the special status, which was revoked by the Center on August 5, 2019. It said, ‘The special status of the state and constitutional guarantees are important. It protects the identity, culture and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Assembly expresses concern over its unilateral removal.

The Government of India should talk to the representatives here regarding the special status of the state. Work should be done on its constitutional restoration. The assembly emphasizes that this restoration should be done keeping in mind both national unity and the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.’ Independent MLAs Sheikh Khurshid and Shabbir Kulle, PC chief Sajjad Lone and PDP MLAs supported it.

BJP’s allegation – Speaker himself prepared the draft

All BJP MLAs including Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma in Jammu Assembly opposed the proposal. Sharma said that he has information that the Speaker had called a meeting of ministers on Tuesday (5 November) and prepared the proposal himself. During this time, they kept raising slogans like ‘Speaker Hai-Hai’ and ‘Pakistani agenda will not work’.

Sharma also asked how the proposal was brought when the LG’s address was to be discussed? He said that he did not approve of the proposal. After this, he tore its copy and threw it in the well. Amidst the uproar, Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather conducted voting on the proposal, after which the proposal was passed by majority.

Regarding the allegations made by the BJP MLAs, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rathar said, “If you do not trust me, then bring a no-confidence motion.”

National Conference had promised in its manifesto

The central government had abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. During this time it was divided into two union territories Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In the recently held assembly elections, the National Conference had promised in its manifesto to make efforts to restore it. After the resolution was passed, CM Omar Abdullah said that the assembly has done its job.
