Congress candidates in Bengal are very special

The fight in West Bengal is particularly interesting because despite the opposition parties being a part of the India Alliance, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee has fielded candidates on all 42 seats in the state. Munish Tamang, who has been fielded from the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat, is a very popular leader in the hilly areas of North Bengal. Munish Tamang, the national president of the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, has been a part of the Gorkhaland movement.

He had joined the Congress four days ago on March 28. After taking membership of the party at the Delhi Congress headquarters, he had said that I have joined the Congress to move forward with the whole of India. For the past several years, our Gorkha community has given time to the BJP, but in return our community has got nothing but betrayal. He was known as an ally of the BJP in this area and now when he is contesting the elections on a Congress ticket, he will have a direct contest with the current MP Raju Bisht from here.
