Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its sixth list of three candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, two of which are for Rajasthan and one for Manipur. In the new list, BJP has fielded Indu Devi Jatav from Karauli-Dholpur, while Kanhaiya Lal Meena will contest from Dausa. At the same time, the party has expressed its trust in Thounaojam Basant Kumar Singh from Inner Manipur. With the latest list released by the BJP, the party has so far announced candidates for 24 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan.

Earlier, on March 24, the BJP had released a list of seven candidates from Rajasthan, in which the party has again fielded two sitting MPs, Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur and Bhagirath Chaudhary from Ajmer. Bhagirath Chaudhary was fielded in the assembly elections in December last year, but he lost the election.

The party has given tickets to Rao Rajendra Singh from Jaipur Rural and Shubhkaran Chaudhary from Jhunjhunu. Both are former MLAs. Of the seven candidates announced by the party, three were women. The BJP has fielded Priyanka Balan from Ganganagar, Manju Sharma from Jaipur and Mahima Vishweshwar Singh from Rajsamand.

Mahima Vishweshwar Singh is a member of the former royal family of Udaipur. She is the wife of BJP MLA Vishvraj Singh Mewar. She will contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Rajput-dominated Rajsamand seat. The Rajsamand Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after MP Diya Kumari was elected MLA in the 2023-Assembly elections.

Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan will be held in two phases on 19 and 26 April. In the first phase, voting will be held on 19 April in 12 Lok Sabha constituencies, Ganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa and Nagaur. In the remaining 13 Lok Sabha constituencies, Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota and Jhalawar-Baran, voting will be held in the second phase on 26 April.

Apart from this, by-election for Bagidora assembly seat of Banswara Lok Sabha constituency will also be held in the second phase on April 26. This seat was vacant after Congress MLA Mahendrajit Singh Malviya left Congress and joined BJP a few days ago. Malviya is contesting the Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate from Banswara seat.
