Saying that PM Modi is like an “elder brother” to the states, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday made his intentions clear that he would not like to clash with the Center and would maintain cordial relations. Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Prime Minister Modi launching or laying the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 56,000 crore, Reddy sought cooperation from Modi to develop Telangana on the lines of Gujarat. Reddy said that Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, is the fifth largest city in the country. Which would like to contribute to PM Modi’s ambitious goal of making India a 5 trillion US dollar economy.

After a long time, a Chief Minister of Telangana welcomed PM Modi and shared the stage with him during an official program. BRS supremo and former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao had remained absent during PM Modi’s official visits to the state on several occasions in the past. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said, ‘Narendra Modi, according to us, Prime Minister means like our elder brother. Only if the elder brother gets support, the Chief Ministers can carry forward the development work in their respective states. The Chief Minister said, ‘Therefore, I request that if Telangana has to be developed on the lines of Gujarat, then your support is necessary.’

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the state government will step up necessary facilities and give necessary approvals to NTPC to complete the 4,000 MW power plant, of which only 1,600 MW has been commissioned. He further said that as per the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Act, the Center has to set up a 4,000 MW power plant in Telangana. However, due to the actions of the previous BRS government, only 1,600 MW was completed in the last 10 years.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that when there is a conflict between the Center and the states, ultimately the public will suffer. Politics should be limited to elections only and after the elections, the elected leaders should make efforts for the development of the state with the help of the Centre. He said that when he met him to seek approval on some issues, PM Modi responded positively. Apart from Musi river development, Reddy sought cooperation from Modi for expansion of semiconductor industry in the state.
