Rajkumar Anand Resign: Delhi minister Rajkumar Anand on Wednesday resigned from the cabinet and also left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that Dalits are not being given representation in the party. During a press conference in Delhi, Anand, who is in charge of various departments including social welfare, alleged that there is no Dalit among the top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Rajkumar Anand said that this party does not respect Dalit MLAs, councillors and ministers. In such a situation, all Dalits feel cheated. We live in an inclusive society, but it is not wrong to talk about proportion.

It is difficult for me to remain in the party with all these things, so I am resigning from the post. He also took a dig at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in Tihar Jail after being sent to judicial custody in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam and has not got any relief from the Delhi High Court.

What did Rajkumar Anand say on the High Court’s decision?

In response to a question about the timing of his resignation, Anand said that it is not about timing. Till yesterday we were thinking that we are being framed, but after the High Court’s decision, it seems that there is something wrong on our part. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday upheld Kejriwal’s arrest and subsequent remand and said that after repeated summons and refusal to join the investigation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was left with ‘little choice’.

What allegations did Rajkumar Anand make?

Rajkumar Anand said that I am a minister in the Delhi government, I have seven departments. Today I am very distressed, so I have come to share my grief. I came into politics when Arvind Kejriwal said that if politics changes then the country will change, but today I have to say with regret that politics did not change, but the politicians changed.

Aam Aadmi Party was born from a movement against corruption, but today this party itself is stuck in the quagmire of corruption. It has become uncomfortable for me to work in this government while being a minister.

He said that I am resigning from this party, government and my ministerial post because I do not want to be associated with these corrupt practices. I do not think that we have any moral strength left to rule. Baba Saheb Ambedkar had given the mantra of pay back to society. Because of that, despite being a businessman, I first joined NGO, then I became a public representative and then a minister so that people could be served.

I came so that I could give something to the society from my side. This is why I stood with Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal, who talk about following the ideals of Baba Saheb. Baba Saheb’s photo is put up in every press conference, every government office, but only talks happen.

There is no respect for Dalit MLAs and ministers in this party. There is no Dalit among their leading leaders in the government or the organization. There is no Dalit in charge of any state. In such circumstances, all Dalits feel cheated. Reservation is a constitutional compulsion, but when it comes to representation.

When the Dalit community talks about sending its people. There are 13 Rajya Sabha MPs of Aam Aadmi Party, but none of them is Dalit or backward or woman. Last year, many research fellows were recruited in the assembly, but not a single Dalit was taken among them. If this work does not happen in my presence, then what will I do here. It is not wrong to talk about representation and proportion.

It is not a matter of time, a person is feeling suffocated and then suddenly takes a decision. After what the High Court said yesterday, it seems that now everything is clear. Dalit ministers are kept for the sake of keeping and then corner meetings start.
