Bumrah Ruled Out of First Two ODIs Against England Due to Back Spasm

Jasprit Bumrah, who sustained a back spasm on the final day of the Sydney Test, has been ruled out of the first two ODIs against England. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar explained that Bumrah requires five weeks of rest and is awaiting further updates from the medical team. To fill the void, Harshit Rana has been called up for the ODI series. However, Bumrah has been included in the Champions Trophy squad, which will commence after the ODI series.

Speaking at the press conference, Agarkar stated, “Bumrah will not be available for the first two ODIs due to his recovery plan. We expect an update on his fitness from the medical team by early February.” Despite his absence from the initial ODIs, the selectors expressed optimism about his readiness for the Champions Trophy.

The final Champions Trophy squad must be submitted to the ICC by February 11. With key players returning and fresh talent like Yashasvi Jaiswal stepping in, the team appears balanced, but all eyes will be on Bumrah’s fitness as India aims to bring home the trophy.
