Thrill of first century of Nitish Reddy: Nitish Kumar Reddy created history by scoring the first century of his career in the Melbourne Test match. Nitish Reddy became the third youngest Indian batsman to score a century on Australian soil. Reddy created history by scoring a century at the age of 21 years and 214 days. Let us tell you that Nitish also became the Indian batsman to play the biggest innings at number 8 batting order on Australian soil. It was not easy for Nitish to score a century. At one time, India had lost 7 wickets for 221 runs. After this, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar took charge at the crease.

Both of them together handled the Indian innings and made a partnership of 127 runs for the 8th wicket. When Sundar was batting, it seemed that Nitish would easily complete his century but Nathan Lyon gave the eighth blow to India by dismissing Sundar on a score of 50 runs. Now Jaspreet Bumrah came to the crease to bat. At the time when Sundar was out, Nitish was batting on 97 runs.

Such was the whole thrill of the century

Now Bumrah and Nitish were on the crease. Scott Boland was bowling the 113th over of India’s innings. In such a situation, Nitish hit an aerial shot on the last ball of Scott Boland which went towards extra cover. Where no player was present. Here Nitish made a mistake and where one run was to be taken, Nitish and Bumrah together ran and took two runs. When two runs were completed, Nitish realized his mistake. This was the reason why Nitish held his head.

Now a single was expected from Bumrah 

In such a situation, Pat Cummins came to bowl the next over, Bumrah was on strike. Fans and Nitish were left breathless. Cummins stopped Bumrah from taking runs on two consecutive balls. Nitish’s heart started beating fast at the non-strike end. Looking at Nitish Reddy’s face, it could be understood that he was now praying. The excitement for the fans present in the gallery had reached its peak.

Now on the third ball, Cummins got Bumrah out by getting him caught in the first slip with his brilliant delivery. After Bumrah’s dismissal, India suffered the 9th blow. On the other hand, Nitish started getting disappointed. His family members sitting in the gallery were also seen praying. Now Nitish’s century depended on Mohammad Siraj.

Now the last ball was about to be bowled. Indian fans were praying. Siraj’s legs were trembling. There was pressure on him to play one ball well. Nitish was just looking at Siraj and motivating him.

Sixth ball – Cummins to Siraj, no run..

When Siraj saved three balls of Cummins, the fans heaved a sigh of relief. Now there was hope of a century. Boland was about to bowl the next over. Nitish was just one run away from a century. On the fourth ball of the 115th over, Nitish completed his century by hitting a four in the direction of log on with the straight bat. Seeing the century of the young player, the fans present in Melbourne stood up and started clapping. The young batsman who dreamed of taking a selfie with Virat Kohli had created history. Nitish had completed his first century. The commentators were also constantly praising this young player.

Tears came out of father’s eyes

Seeing his son’s century, father Mutalya Reddy’s eyes filled with tears. The joy of pride was clearly visible on his face. Adam Gilchrist also got the first reaction from Mutalya Reddy, Mutalya Reddy said that, when Siraj was batting, he was very tense. This is a proud moment for our family. 

Father’s struggle for Nitish Kumar Reddy

He gave up his job. He retired 25 years ago. He gave his full attention to Nitish Kumar Reddy. He took him along for training and provided him all the facilities despite his financial condition.
