On the fourth day of the match at Chepauk Stadium on Sunday, the Indian team bowled out Bangladesh, chasing 515 runs, for 234 runs in the second innings. Earlier, Indian captain Rohit Sharma declared the second innings at 287 runs for 4 wickets and gave Bangladesh a target of 515 runs. Team India had scored 376 runs in the first innings. ”This win is very important for us. Pant has gone through a tough time. The way he has handled those things is amazing. He loves this format the most. We always knew how capable he is. It was just a matter of giving him game time. We want to build a team like this in any condition. We always want to have no shortage of options in fast bowling or spin. This pitch was quite easy. There was help for the fast bowlers and there was a lot for the spinners as well. It was a pitch where you had to show patience. Ashwin is always with you. He keeps telling you what to do and what not to do. I have no words for what he does for the team. He never goes out of the game.”
Pant said- I am celebrating my comeback
”I really like playing in Chennai. After the injury, I had to make a comeback in all three formats. This was my first Test match after that. I am celebrating this comeback every day. It was also a bit emotional. I wanted to score well in every match. It is a very good feeling for me to make a comeback in Test cricket again. I got a bit emotional after scoring a century, although at the end of the day, staying on the field is the most important thing for me. I don’t know what people say about me, but I understand any situation in my own way. At one point, we had lost three wickets at a score of 30 and I was looking to make a partnership. For that, I had a player with whom I have a very good relationship.”
Shanto said- I was trying to play for longer
”Hasan and Taskin bowled very well, both batted well too. Our bowling was good, but we have to maintain consistency. I was trying to bat for as long as possible. This is a very important series for us. Hopefully we will do something good in the next match.”
