India won the match with 49 balls to spare and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Team India’s world record in T20 cricketÂ
Team India, which came out to chase the target of 128 runs against Bangladesh, made a unique record. Team India achieved this target in 11.5 overs due to its brilliant batting. Team India broke its own old record against Bangladesh. After achieving the victory with 49 balls to spare, it became the biggest victory achieved by any team in T20 in terms of balls. Before this, no team in world cricket has achieved a target of more than 100 runs in T20 cricket with so many balls to spare. Earlier also, Team India had done such a feat against Zimbabwe in the year 2016 and then won with 41 balls to spare.
Chasing the target of 128 runs, Pandya hit two consecutive fours and sealed the victory by hitting a six off Taskin Ahmed’s ball on the fifth ball of the 12th over. Pandya hit five fours and two sixes in his innings. Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma made a great start. Samson took charge by hitting two fours off Shoriful Islam in the first over. In the next over, Abhishek hit a six and two fours off Taskin’s ball, but was run out after scoring 16 runs.
Surya supported Samson in the middle
Captain Suryakumar Yadav supported Samson in the middle and both continued to score runs rapidly in the powerplay. Both the batsmen played aggressive shots and kept the run rate above 10. Suryakumar scored 29 runs off 14 balls with the help of three sixes and two fours. New batsman Nitish Reddy supported Samson in the middle. India had laid the foundation for chasing the target in the powerplay itself by scoring 71/2 in the first six overs. Samson could not carry the rhythm forward and was dismissed by Mehdi Hasan Miraz in the eighth over. He scored 29 runs off 19 balls.
Pandya and Reddy ensured that India did not face any further trouble in chasing the target. The senior batsman of the team took the responsibility on his shoulders and displayed his best batting to lead India to victory. Reddy remained unbeaten on 16 runs while Pandya scored an unbeaten 39 runs. Earlier, Arshdeep Singh (3-14) and Varun Chakraborty (3-31) took three wickets each to bundle out Bangladesh for 127 runs.
