Women shooters started India’s victorious campaign by winning two medals. In the women’s 10m air rifle (SH-1 category), Avni Lekhara and Mona Agarwal won gold and bronze medals respectively. Avni created history by winning the gold medal. This Indian shooter became the first Indian female athlete to win two gold medals in the history of Paralympic Games. For the first time, Avni won gold in Tokyo 2020.

Avni won the gold medal in Paris in style and made the event memorable forever. She won the gold with 249.9 points, setting a new Paralympic record. Earlier, Avni had scored 249.6 in Tokyo. Overall, this was the second gold medal in Paralympic history for 22-year-old Avni. By the way, this is Avni’s third medal overall in the games. She won the bronze medal in 50m rifle-3 position in SH-1 in Tokyo. Apart from him, Devendra Jhajharia is another Indian in the men’s category who has won two gold medals.

Earlier, Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist Avni qualified for the main round with 625.8 points. She was second in the preliminary round. At the same time, Mona finished fifth after scoring 623.1 points in the 17-woman qualification round.
