Himachal Cloud Burst Tragedy: Incidents of cloud burst have been reported in 4 districts of Himachal Pradesh last night . Clouds have burst in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Chamba of the state . As per the information received till 2 pm, four people have died, while 52 people are missing. The drain in Samej village in Jhakri of Rampur in Shimla (Shimla-Rampur) has destroyed the area. 36 people are missing here, while two bodies have been found.
At the same time, 8 people are missing in Ramban village of Padhar subdivision of Mandi due to flash flood and landslide. Two people have died here. Apart from this, 7 people have been swept away in the flood in Bagipul of Nirmand of Ani in Kullu district and their whereabouts are unknown. Five people of one family and two Nepalis are reported missing.

Kullu Disaster Management said that Kurpan Khad in Jao village of Nirmand has been flooded and seven people are missing here. The department said that two bridges have been broken, while nine houses have been damaged and 11 houses have been washed away. The flood has also swept away 6 shops. Similarly, Parvati river has been flooded in Malana of Kullu. Malana bridge has been washed away here. NDRF team has been sent. 9 people are stranded here.
A landslide has occurred in Tikkan Thalukot village of Padhar in Mandi district and two people have died here and eight people are missing. Three to four houses have collapsed here. One person is injured, who has been admitted to the hospital.
What is the condition of Shimla district
After a cloudburst in Jhakri of Rampur, about 100 km from Shimla, the ravine in Samej village was flooded and so far 1 person has died here, while 36 people are missing. Teams of NDRF and ITBP are engaged in relief and rescue work here. The important thing is that this ravine meets the Sutlej river and cylinders and household items have been seen floating in the river here. In such a situation, people are also being searched in the Sutlej river.
Sandeep Kumar, scientist of Shimla Meteorological Center, said that during the last 24 hours, most of the areas in the state have received rain. Heavy rain has been recorded in some districts. Heavy rain has occurred at some places in Chamba, Kangra, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, Shimla. In this, 212 mm rain was recorded in Palampur, 161 in Jogindernagar, 183.2 in Dharamshala, 135.0 in Baijnath, 142.0 in Sujanpur Tihra, 103.5 in Naidun, 121.2 in Paonta and 84 mm in Kufri. For Thursday, there is an orange alert of heavy rain at one or two places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu Mandi. There is a yellow alert of heavy rain at some places from 2 to 6 August and during this time there is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Una, Bilaspur, Solan, Mandi, Sirmaur, Shimla, Chamba, Kangra. He said that in such a situation, people are advised not to go near rivers and streams, because flash flood situation may arise after heavy rain.
CM called an emergency meeting
After the incidents of cloudburst at five places in Himachal Pradesh late on Wednesday night, CM Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu held an emergency meeting with senior officials to review the damage. The CM said that cloudburst has occurred at three places in Kullu district and one each in Mandi and Shimla. So far two bodies have been recovered, while 50 people are reported missing. The Chief Minister said that in the last 12 hours, one national highway and five roads are blocked due to cloudburst and heavy rain, while three bridges have been damaged.
Rescue operations on war footing-CM
The CM said that Jhakri Ka Samej area of Shimla district has been the worst affected, where 36 people are missing from the residential area due to cloudburst and a road is also blocked. Seven people are missing in Tikkan-Thalukot village of Padhar tehsil of Mandi district, while the bodies of two people have been recovered. At the same time, three houses have also been damaged. He said that seven people are missing due to cloudburst in Jaon village of Nirmand tehsil of Kullu district, nine houses have been washed away in the flood, while two bridges have been damaged, in addition, the water level of Pin Parvati river has increased due to cloudburst in the high mountain area and a bus has been washed away. A bridge has also been damaged in Jari of Malana.
Nine people are stranded on the banks of the Beas river in Malana, rescue operations are going on on a war footing to evacuate them safely. The Chief Minister said that the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains till next Friday morning. The Chief Minister said that State Emergency Centers have been established at 13 places in the state for disaster monitoring, through which all sensitive places will be monitored 24 hours a day.
CM spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi over the phone this morning and apprised them of the situation arising due to heavy rains and cloudburst in the state. He urged the Central Government to cooperate generously to deal with this disaster.
