Weather Update: In most of the states of the country, the heat has been showing its strength for the last few days. There is a possibility of severe heat in the coming days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, except some areas of the country, the maximum temperature is likely to be above normal in other parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has released the data of the scorching heat across the country in the month of April. Last month i.e. April has broken more than 100 years old heat record. The scorching heat has scorched the eastern and peninsular parts of the country.

Temperature 45 degrees at many places

For the past few days, many parts including North India have been experiencing extreme heat and people are in bad condition. Last month in April, the temperature reached 45 degrees Celsius at many places in South India. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in most states are being recorded above 40 degrees.

Heat broke 123 year record

According to the Meteorological Department, the heat in the month of April has broken the record of the last 123 years. In Eastern and North-Eastern India, the average minimum temperature recorded in April last month was 22 degrees Celsius, which was the highest since 1901. The Meteorological Department says that the frequency of cyclonic storms was below average. In such a situation, the temperature in East and North-East India has been recorded relatively higher.

When has it been so hot?

According to the IMD, the hottest April month in peninsular India since 1901 was recorded in 2016, due to El Nino. Let us tell you that El Nino is a weather phenomenon in the tropical Pacific Ocean, due to which there is a weak monsoon and dry season in India.

The mercury had reached 47 degrees on April 30

On Tuesday, the last day of April (30 April), there was severe heat at all places in Gangetic West Bengal. The temperature in Panagarh, West Bengal was recorded at 45.6 degrees Celsius, which is 10 degrees more than normal. Kalaikunda recorded a maximum of 47.2 degrees Celsius, Baharagora in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district recorded a maximum of 47.1 degrees Celsius. The temperature was recorded at 44.6 degrees in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

Forecast released for heat wave in May

According to IMD, except parts of Northeast, North-West and Central India, most parts of the country are going to experience severe heat in the month of May. The maximum temperature in this month is expected to be above normal.

Heat wave will haunt these states

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions will last for 5-8 days in Western India in the month of May. There may be five to eight additional days of heat wave in May in South Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Gujarat. Whereas in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab, heat wave may last for 2-4 days more than normal.
