Weather Update: Heat wave continues in North India. On Monday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 46.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh was recorded at 46.3 degrees Celsius. On Monday, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of West Bengal. Heat wave conditions persisted in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and South Bihar and some places in Delhi and Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Tuesday in Delhi. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to reach 44 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively. A heat wave warning has also been issued in Bihar.

On Monday, the maximum temperature was between 42-45 degree Celsius in many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi. In some parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and some places in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and East Madhya Pradesh, the maximum temperature was between 42-45 degree Celsius. In some parts of these areas, it was 3-5 degree Celsius above normal.

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Monday was recorded at 43.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.5 degrees more than the average temperature of this season. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Narela in Delhi was the hottest with a temperature of 46.6 degrees Celsius, while Najafgarh recorded 46.3 degrees Celsius, Aya Nagar 44.7 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 43.8 degrees Celsius and Palam recorded 44.1 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has forecast clear skies and heatwaves and strong winds with a speed of 25 to 35 kmph in Delhi on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Tuesday in Delhi. The Meteorological Department said that the maximum and minimum temperatures in the national capital are expected to reach 44 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively on Tuesday.

The period of heat and heat wave will continue in Bihar

The outbreak of severe heat and heat wave continues in almost all the areas of the state including Bihar’s capital Patna. There is no hope of relief for the next four days. According to Patna Meteorological Center, there is a strong possibility of heat wave conditions in many places of most of the districts of the southern part of the state and one or two places of some districts of the northern part till June 14. The weather is expected to be normal from June 15-16.

According to the Meteorological Center, the highest maximum temperature in Bihar on Monday was recorded at 45.9 degrees Celsius in Buxar and Bhojpur. Apart from this, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.5 degrees in Siwan, 45.1 degrees in Gaya, 44.7 degrees in Rajgir (Nalanda) and 41.7 degrees Celsius in Patna. 

The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for the next four days in Uttarakhand. Meteorological Department Director Bikram Singh said that the heat wave will continue from June 11 to June 14. For the next one week, the temperature can go up to 42 degrees in the plain districts and 29 degrees in the hilly districts. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of strong storms during this period.

Heavy rain in Mumbai 

Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai received heavy rains after 7 pm on Monday while 50 mm of rain was recorded in the 24-hour period till morning. BMC officials said that between 7 pm and 9 pm, 35 mm rain was recorded in Raoli Camp, 27 mm in B Nadkarni Park and 24 mm in Wadala area.

The southwest monsoon has reached Mumbai. According to the IMD, due to favorable conditions on the Maharashtra coast, the monsoon reached Mumbai on Sunday, two days before the normal time.
