Nepal Plane Crash: 18 people lost their lives in a plane crash (Nepal Plane Crash) in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Wednesday. The whole of Nepal is mourning this accident. There were 19 people on board the plane that crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport, out of which 18 are no longer in this world. But who is that one person who defeated death, this question is arising in everyone’s mind. When the video of the plane turning into a ball of fire came out, it was impossible to even think that now someone would be alive. But the survival of one person in this horrific accident is no less than a miracle. The name of the person who survived is Manish Shakya. Know who is Manish Shakya.

Who survived the Nepal plane crash?

Manish Shakya, who survived the Nepal plane crash by defeating the chances, is the pilot of the same plane. After the fire broke out in the plane, the rescue operation was started immediately. After which the fire was controlled. During this time, Captain Manish Shakya was rescued. He was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition. Now he is out of danger. Whereas 18 people including co-pilot S. Katwal could not be saved. 37-year-old pilot Manish Shakya is being treated at Model Hospital in Kathmandu. Officials said that at present, important surgery of his eye and spinal cord is going on and he has been admitted to the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit.

Immediately after the plane crash, rescue teams reached the spot and efforts were made to control the fire. It can be said that it was Manish’s luck as well as the promptness of the rescue team that the team was able to take him out of the debris of the burning plane. However, his condition was critical. He was soaked in blood and his uniform was also soaked in blood. Manish’s life was saved but his condition was critical. He was immediately sent to the hospital. However, now he is said to be out of danger. According to the doctor of the hospital, he has suffered an injury in his eye.

The co-pilot who was killed was about to go to Japan for training

The co-pilot of the plane, Sasant Katwal, also died in this accident. He was working as a pilot for the last three years after completing his training in France. His uncle Dhyan Bahadur Khadka said that Sasant had got a visa to go to Germany for further training. But this accident took his life. 

The deceased were identified as co-pilot Samsat Katwal, an employee of Saurya Airlines, and a Yemeni national (Aref Reda). The deceased included airline technician Manu Raj Sharma, his wife Prija Khatiwada and their four-year-old son Adhi Raj Sharma. Prija worked as an assistant computer operator in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. The airlines statement said that Prija and his son were initially identified as employees of the company but later it was found that they were passengers.

The plane caught fire as soon as it hit the ground

The plane took off from Tribhuvan Airport. This plane was going from Kathmandu to Pokhara. There were a total of 19 people on board this plane of Shaurya Airlines (Saurya Airlines plane crashes in Kathmandu). Everything seemed fine till the plane took off from the runway. But after a few minutes the balance of the plane got disturbed. It is seen in the video that the plane tilted to one side. Within a few moments of the plane tilting to the right, it fell some distance from the runway. As soon as it hit the ground, the plane caught fire and a cloud of smoke spread at the airport. The fire was so terrible that all the people on board the plane came under its grip.

According to the initial information, this accident happened due to the plane slipping during takeoff. This accident happened due to the plane slipping during takeoff. As soon as the information about this accident was received, the relief and rescue team immediately reached the spot and the rescue operation was started. Efforts were made to extinguish the fire in the plane as soon as possible, so that other passengers could be found. 

People going to Pokhara became victims of an accident

There were 19 people on board the plane, including crew and technical staff, who were going to Pokhara. An airport spokesperson told that the plane caught fire after sliding off the runway within minutes of takeoff. Black clouds of smoke and flames can be seen in the pictures of the plane crash. 

The plane was going to be okay 

It has been revealed that the crashed Saurya Airlines plane had gone to Pokhara for engine testing. The plane was going to Pokhara for complete engine overhaul (C-check). There were 19 people on board the plane 9N-AME. According to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, they were Saurya engineers and technicians. The plane was kept in a hangar in Pokhara for a month and was ready for repairs.

Tribhuvan International Airport spokesman Premnath Thakur said the incident occurred around 11 am when the Pokhara-bound Saurya Airlines plane crashed shortly after taking off from the runway. Fire brigade and security personnel, including Nepal Police and Nepal Army, are carrying out rescue operations. According to police, the plane’s captain Manish Shakya has been rescued from the debris and taken to KMC Hospital in Sinamangal for treatment.

The reason for the fire has not been revealed yet. However, it could also be a technical fault. Because this plane was going to Pokhara for inspection.

According to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, the people on board were engineers and technicians. The plane was kept in a hangar in Pokhara for a month. It was to be repaired. 

7- Whose plane was it:  According to information, the plane that met with the accident belonged to Nepal’s Shaurya Airlines. The number of the plane is 9N – AME (CRJ 200).

Nepal’s PM appealed for patience

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekh expressed grief over the incident and separately visited the accident site to gather information about it and give necessary instructions. PM Oli appealed to everyone to remain patient in this hour of grief. 

Nepal criticized for air accidents

Nepal has been heavily criticised in recent years for its poor air safety record, attributed to human error as well as sudden changes in weather and runways in rugged rocky terrain. According to Nepal’s civil aviation body, 914 people have died in air accidents in the country since the first accident in August 1955.
