Samosa in Pakistan: In India, you will get a samosa at any general store for Rs 10. However, if you go to a big shop which is very famous, then you will get this samosa there for a maximum of Rs 20. But the price of samosa in Pakistan is even higher than this.
Actually, a year ago a YouTuber from New Zealand, Karl Rock, had gone to visit Faisalabad, Pakistan. When he went there and ate samosas from a shop located at Ghanta Chowk in Faisalabad, he had to pay 80 Pakistani rupees for two samosas. However, some chickpeas and raita were also given with this samosa.
When we checked on Pakistan’s online grocery delivery platform, we came to know that a packet of 32 potato raw samosas was priced at 650 Pakistani rupees. Whereas the price of same packet chicken samosa was 800 Pakistani rupees.
Now let us come to know when the issue of price of samosas reached the court in Pakistan. In fact, in the year 2009, a provincial court of Pakistan had fixed the price of samosa at Rs 6. That means if a shopkeeper sells samosa for more than Rs 6, he would be fined.
Punjab Bakers and Sweets Federation fought a long legal battle against this decision. He went to the High Court. However, Lahore High Court rejected this case. Now Punjab Bakers and Sweets Federation approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Supreme Court gave its verdict in this case in the year 2017. The decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan came in favor of Punjab Bakers and Sweets Federation. The Supreme Court said that the price of one samosa can be more than Rs 6.
