Tibet Earthquake: More than 100 people have lost their lives in the earthquake that struck Tibet on Tuesday morning. According to data from the US Geological Survey, the magnitude of this earthquake was 7.1. Its epicenter was 10 kilometers below the ground in Dingri, Tibet. About 1,000 houses were damaged in the earthquake. According to China’s news agency Xinhua, about 50 earthquakes of 4.4 magnitude occurred within 3 hours after the first earthquake. After this, the northern gate of Mount Everest was closed.
This earthquake is considered to be the most severe earthquake in China in the last few years. Its tremors were felt till Nepal, India and Bangladesh. Earlier in December 2023, an earthquake of 6.2 magnitude hit Gansu province of China, in which 151 people lost their lives.

Level-3 emergency declared in the affected area
According to reports, a large number of people are trapped in the debris after the earthquake. They are being rescued. According to China’s CCTV News, China’s State Council has sent a task force to the earthquake-affected area and declared a level-3 emergency.
The Chinese Air Force is also engaged in rescue operations in the affected area. The infrastructure of the area has been badly damaged due to the earthquake, due to which the supply of both electricity and water has been disrupted. In view of the earthquake, China has closed the tourist areas of Mount Everest for tourists.
Level-3 emergency is declared when the accident is so big that the local administration and state government cannot deal with it. In such a situation, the central government sends immediate help from its side.
