Is the world heading towards the World War III? The ongoing tension between Israel and Iran has intensified discussions about this. There are 3 important reasons for this discussion about the World War after 79 years.

According to Ukraine’s local newspaper Kyiv Independent, more than 45 thousand Russian soldiers have also died in the war. According to human rights organizations, due to the war between the two countries, millions of people have had to leave their homes and be displaced. 

The whole of Europe is in disarray because of Ukraine and Russia.

The Middle East is also burning amidst the ongoing war in Europe. The war between Gaza and Israel in the Middle East has been going on for more than 6 months.

So far more than 35 thousand people have died in this war. Due to the war between these two countries, Iran has also talked about taking action against Israel. If there is a war between Iran and Israel, then many countries of the Middle East can be involved in it.

The situation in Asia is also not good. Here India is having border dispute with China and Pakistan. Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a statement regarding the border dispute with China. PM Modi had said that this needs to be addressed soon. 

Pakistan also has a border dispute with Afghanistan. Due to this, there have been many clashes between the two countries. 

2. UN’s appeal is not effective, failed so far in stopping the war 

The appeal of the United Nations has so far proved to be effective in stopping any war. The UN has appealed to both Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas to establish peace, but no one is ready to listen to it. 

It is being said that the condition of the United Nations at present is the same as it was before the Second World War. Even at that time, no country had listened to the appeal of the United Nations to stop the war.

Experts say that there have been problems in the functioning of the United Nations from the very beginning, but the current situation has highlighted its failure even more.

According to former UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros Ghali, the veto system has weakened the UN. He writes in his autobiography – If the veto system is not abolished, the United Nations Security Council will not be able to work independently.

At present, 5 countries have veto power and whenever the UN calls a meeting to stop the war, one of these countries vetoes it and the meeting becomes unimportant.

3. Big countries are directly or indirectly involved in the war this time too

The countries which were majorly involved in the Second World War are directly or indirectly involved in the war this time too. Understand this with 3 examples-

• Countries like America, France, Britain, Germany, Italy and Russia were majorly involved in the Second World War. This time too, these countries are directly or indirectly involved in some war or the other. America is with Israel in the Middle East war, and with Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war.
• Israel and Iran in the Middle East are directly involved in the war, while many other countries here are standing behind each other.
• The situation is not clear yet regarding Asian and African countries. However, China has so far supported Russia in the Ukraine and Russia war. China has deep differences with America on the issue of Taiwan. India’s attitude has remained neutral.
